Recipe for Honey Glazed Snack Mix

8 cups Chex Cereal
3 cups miniature pretzels
2 cups mixed nuts
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup honey

In a large bowl, combine cereal, pretzels and mixed nuts, set aside. In a small sauce pan melt butter: stir in honey until well blended. Pour over cereal mixture, stir to coat. Spread on two large greased baking pans. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Cool in pan. Store in air tight container.

Honey Glazed snack mix is a favorite of ours. You can substitute Crispix cereal or just your favorite nut.
Enjoy! Maybe make some for the football games coming up tomorrow and Sunday.

Max, the Christmas Cat - Posted by Sam and Atticus

This is our cat, Max. He causes Mom alot of trouble. Why you ask? Look how he goes right into her Christmas Village, like a huge lion. He knocks down all the people and then looks at her so innocent. We love our cat Max. He loves to play with us. He even knows how to play football. He likes to cuddle up with us at night. He is a great pet.

Camp Elk River, in the Winter

We are blessed to have a camp site on the Elk River in Price County, Wisconsin. We have a great time camping in the summer and fall. The Elk River is very rocky, you can not canoe or raft, unless you have high water. You can fish, but you may get snagged on a rock. You also can River walk along the rocks, the goal being you jump from rock to rock so you don't get wet.
But this summer, the Elk was high, very high. The amount of summer rain, gave the river a new look that we have not seen in many years. We had the opportunity to raft, fish and swim.

Now the camp is a sleep, resting from another summer of little boys exploring the river shore, finding frogs and other boy treasure(sticks, rocks and bugs).
The river is not completely a sleep. It continues to move, not letting the cold of winter freeze it 100%.

The River...always changing, yet the same.

Fight for the Princess
Kingdoms Prison Tower Rescue
Sam and Atticus got to open Christmas presents on December 19th at Grandma and Grandpa's. It was very fun. After driving home and getting settled in, we built this Lego, that we got from our Aunt Clover.
We have created this to be the bad guys fort and the good guys attack it. The good guys always win!

A Christmas Carol

We had the opportunity to see the Christmas Carol at the Guthrie in Minneapolis, MN.
We went with Mr.Smith's class, Sam and Atticus' teacher. It was a fantastic production and the kids enjoyed it. It is amazing to me that with all the politically correct stuff going around, that A Christmas Carol can still pack the house. I say "God Bless".
A few fun facts.
A Christmas Carol was an instant success when published in 1843 selling more than 6,000 copies
The book has never been out of print in 167 years
The book, after being released in December 1843, was already adapted for the stage by January 1844
Dickens gave hundreds of public readings in his lifetime, including 127 performances of A Christmas Carol
Mr. Smith's class 2010-2011 Growing Lights Christian Academy
Many fun ways to take in the story A Christmas Carol.
A play
Focus on the Family Radio Theater
The Movie, my favorite with George C. Scott

Pileated Woodpecker

I know this is not the best photo. But if you look really hard...you can see a Pileated Woodpecker eating from our feeder. We could not believe our eyes, to see this big bird in town. We have had the blessing of seeing them in the woods. But to visit the feeder was a real treat.
Pileated Woodpecker

Wingspan: 29 inches

Dreaming of Christmas

Star Wars is the fun with our two boys. Sam is 10 and Atticus is 8 years old. They live and breath Lego's and Star Wars. In this photo we have some troopers on guard. The boys are dreaming of presents and wondering if any will be Star Wars.
The fun for me, I have troopers protecting all my decorations. Mary and Joseph do not have to worry about King Herod, with these mighty troopers on guard.
Only 9 days till Christmas.

December 11, 2010 Blizzard

Let it snow! Let it snow!

Our first big snow storm of the winter. We received a good foot of snow.
Our front door.

Christmas decorations....snowed in!
Sam says "Let's dig a fort." He was able to dig a nice tunnel in a big bank of snow. The fun will begin in a couple of days. We have to endure -20 degree wind chill the next couple of days. Then we will get out and enjoy this new fresh snow.
