Hummingbird...from flower to flower he flies.

Hummingbird

A flash of harmless lightning,
A mist of rainbow dyes,
The burnished sunbeams brightening,
From flower to flower he flies.

John B. Tabb

Can you find the hummingbird?

"This is so good, thank you for the drink"

Do you have a hummingbird feeder?
We received this fun one from my sister as a gift.
It looks like a Mason Jar.

To feed hummingbirds is very easy. Here is the recipe we use.

4 cups of water
1 cup of sugar

Boil water, measure out 4 cups and add 1 cup of sugar.
Stir sugar to dissolve nicely  for a sugar syrup.

 Let the sugar syrup cool.
Pour into your hummingbird feeder.

Sit back and enjoy!

May brings us armfuls of delight,
Bird-song, warm sun and gardens bright.

  1. Oh how I love the hummingbirds.
We have to usually put up around 6 feeders as we get so many on them on farm and they can be rather territorial , all wanting their own spaces. lol They cam back this year the first week of MAy , they were late as they are usually here by the third week of April ~ think the weather slowed them down a bit this year . Glad to have them back !
    Love your feeders.

  2. Enchanting. Beautiful photos. xoxo

Desert flowers are perfect for hummingbirds, because so many are tubular.

  4. We don't have a hummingbird feeder, but for some reason, they often fly into my husband's art studio and get trapped. They move up to the skylights and we have difficulty getting them down.

I do love watching them in the garden.

  5. We really don't have many hummingbirds here in Florida, and the ones we have are brown. I love the mason jar feeder, such a lovely gift.

  6. Great photos. We don't keep bird feeders as we have roaming cats but the hummingbirds come around anyway. Every so often one darts past me in the garden and I always think I should plant more flowers for them. Such beautiful birds.

  9. They are so much fun to watch buzzing around our two feeders. I also loved your poem about God and boys. We have two growing up in our country woods. Those were the days and they went by so fast. Cherish ever moment with yours....:)

  11. Thank you for sharing those photos with us. We don't get hummingbirds in New Zealand, but they are so delightful to see. That sugar syrup is what we make to feed the Tui birds that visit us.

  12. Fantastic photo's! I made some food for them as soon as I saw my first one. I waited for them to come enjoy it once in the feeder, and the sweet bird took such a long drink, I could only imagine how grateful they were :)
