It is a Fashion Statement Hodgepodge

Hello and Welcome, to the Fashion Statement Hodgepodge
Don't you just love those shoes!

It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Head on over and visit Joyce.
She asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

1.  Did you make someone laugh yesterday? Was it intentional?

Yes, I made this goof ball laugh. He made me laugh too.
We are a family that loves to tease each other. So silliness is a regular thing at our house.

 2. What's a simple question with a complicated answer?

Why does bad stuff happen? I have been asked this by my kids and I have even asked this question as an adult. I know the answer, sometimes I still ask why.

  3. Rhododendrons or azaleas...you have to choose. Are either currently blooming in your yard?

I do not have either blooming in my yard.
I would pick azaleas.

  4. May 21st is National Waitstaff Day. Have you ever worked as a waiter/waitress? How would you rate the experience? What was the best/worst part of the job?

Yes, I worked as a waitress. That is how I met my husband.
I would rate the experience very good, but I was also getting to know my future husband and having a real good time with that as well.
The best part of the job, were the tips. I worked at a Supper Club, some nights I came home feeling rich for a 17 year old. The worst part of the job was cleaning up the gross dishes.

5. What fashion trend for women should be outlawed? How about one for men?

For both, it would be the trend of...Lack of Apparel.
I am not into nakedness.

 6. Name a writer who inspires you....now tell us why.

I have many writers who inspire me.
Jeff Goins
Nicholas Sparks
Beverly Cleary
All of the above give advice of how to become a writer. Honesty, do not write like someone else, write like you and read, read, read.

 7. What well known quote or saying sums up your plans for today or this week?

Plant four seeds in a row
One for the mouse and one for the crow
One to rot and one to grow

This weekend I will be planting my garden. If you are new to my blog, I am a gardener.I have a Fresh Cut Flower and Produce Stand in the Summer and Autumn months. The man in the last photo is my mentor. 86 year old Marv. A dear friend of mine and the best gardener I know! This will be my second year gardening with Marv at the Community Gardens.
The photos above are all taken last year during the planting time.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Thank you to all of our United States Military.
Thank you to all the men and women who have served our country.

  1. I am not into nakedness, either...nor am I into partial nakedness. I do not like the super high, super cut off shorts that a lot of the girls are wearing today or the thong bikini bottoms. Yuck. I did not know you had a stand...that is very cool. I can't wait to see some of those posts...and we like silliness, too! Oh...and as a former teacher I can tell you 100% true...you want to write better? Read more!! Happy Wednesday!

  4. What a wonderful post, Carla. You and I think alike on so many levels. Thank you for honoring the military people in our lives. Where would we be without them? Volunteering at the VA for me is one of the best things I have ever done. xo Diana

  5. I love your gardening phrase...but in my case it would be one for the quail....they wait until I seed, and then they have a banquet.

  6. Oooh, a flower stand! How fun! I look forward to moving south and having more things blooming in our yard. We have far too much wildlife here to keep too many flowery plants and stems.

  7. Cool shoes!! And I agree about the nakedness thing. Do people think we really want to view that?? Yikes! I covered my 3" beans last night. Unfortunately, the sheets blew off about 1/4 of them. Wah! And I've never heard that ditty, but that's about how thick I planted my peas! More planting later in the week. :-))

  8. Love the swing picture! To me, it represents carefree childhood. I totally agree on lack of apparel, especially in church! I love your little seed poem! This must be hard on your back. Since I am a kind of new follower, I liked hearing about your gardening and the community garden. We have a few around here. I hope ALL your seeds come up!

  9. This continues to be my fav post of the week my friend! I also loathe the lack of clothing trend! Recentky😔 I had to explain what "Daisy Dukes" were - to my 6 year old! Too much!

  10. Autumn in New Zealand, so no spring blooms, however I do have Vireya, which are a tropical rhododendron flowering at present.

  11. All great answers Carla. One thing about fashion trends that I would like see disappear for both women and men are those ridiculous low cut jeans. I've seen so many butt crack that I'm ready to go blind. If they want to wear them they should wear a long enough top to cover the offending sight. My Azaleas are all budding and soon will be in their glory. I would pick them over rhododendrons too.
    Hugs.

  12. That's not a garden that's a field! Although a well cared for field. I love your rhyme but I'd still struggle getting the fourth seed to grow. My fingers are not green. I agree with the nakedness thing.

  14. Marv looks and sounds a special person.

    Thanks for all your photo'.

I think I'd choose azaleas over Rhododendrons. Had some lovely azaleas at an old house a few years back but none presently. It is a joy to visit parks to see their lovely blooms.

    All the best Jan

  17. It's always a pleasure seeing these posts because I get to know my blog friend better. Carla, your garden is amazing! You have such a vast area. I can't wait to see it all grow! I have such a small area in my back yard, but we still love going out there for a barbecue and seeing my roses in all different colors. I didn't know you loved gardening too, just one more thing we have in common, my friend. My garden brings me so much peace, as I'm sure yours does as well.

  18. So excited to see how your garden grows this year!
I so admire anyone that has ever been a waiter/waitress. That is a job I never had, and I know it's not for me!
