It is a Rose Smelling Hodgepodge

Welcome to the Hodgepodge!

Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

 1. June 23rd is National Pink Day. What's your favorite something pink?

Pink is my second favorite color.
I had a pink bedroom growing up.
My grandma bought me pink satin sheets when I was in 8th grade.

Today, I have a pink phone case. The color is actually called POWER PINK!

 2. What did you enjoy most about gym class when you were in school? How about the least?

Our gym class loved to play floor hockey. Our Phy Ed teacher was the best. He just let us play floor hockey just about the entire year.
Volleyball was my least favorite sport to play. I just could not get that volleyball to go forward.

 3. What memory is brought to mind by the smell of roses?

The entry to my Grandparents home was surrounded by roses on both sides.

 4. Do you prefer to read or write?

I like to do both.

 5. Sam Keen is quoted as saying, 'Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.' Would you agree? Is laziness ever respectable? How will you be lazy this summer?

I do not know if I am ever lazy. I always seem to be doing something.

Relaxing on the deck with a new book.
Canoeing on the river.
Picking wildflowers.

6. The Florida Keys, Disney World, or a resort somewhere on the Gulf Coast...which Florida destination would you choose (and why) if the trip were today?

Disney World
I think my boys would enjoy it.
Disney Hollywood Studios
Star Wars
Yes, I think they would love that.

Disney Animal Kingdom would be next.

  7. What question do you hate to answer?

Do you wish one of your boys was a girl?

I hate that question and usually roll my eyes at the inconsiderate person who asked it.

My husband and I have been blessed with two healthy boys.
We are thankful!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

  1. I love that little cartoon at the bottom! How funny! And boys? I have four and had some crazy questions along the way. Like, Now wouldn't you like to have a baby girl. (answer NO! I have four kids already! hahaha) Or worse than that, You're youngest son has a head full of blond curls, do you dress him up like a girl sometimes. Me thinks not! hahaha And on and on it goes. But now I can laugh and I guess he can too! Enjoy your day sweet friend. Hugs, Diane

  2. I got that question a lot too when I had my boys many moons ago. Now that I am raising a granddaughter (and a grandson) if someone asked me that I would say, "No way. Boys are so much easier!" Have a good Wednesday

  3. Canoeing on the river sounds great. Last time I went canoeing it was with my now husband who was my boyfriend at the time and we capsized. I can laugh now but at the time it was stressful!
    Have a great week :)

  5. Such an extraordinary photo of your grandparents. Stunning couple! Would you believe I don't swim, I have never been canoeing! I was surprisingly good at volleyball and track in p.e. My older sister's 4th child was born with Down Syndrome and heart defects and only lived to be 3 1/2. You would NOT believe the things that people would say to her. We loved him with all our hearts and HE taught us so much about LIVING.
You guys enjoy every minute of these summer days. xo

  6. Great answers. That is a wonderful picture of your grandparents. They were certainly a good looking couple.
LOVE the Dilbert cartoon at the end. xo Diana
ps. Laughing about hating volleyball. I never cared for it either---BUT- We have one gd that is a volley ball "star" and they say she could get a scholarship if she continues. She is only 12 and plays with 14 & 15 year olds.

  7. I'm not a grand fan of pink either, but I do have a pink bedroom set. I have pink pillow shams and comforter, my sheets and pillowcases are white with pink polka dots. I know it makes me happy every time I see it.

  8. Love the cartoon! Ha! I did not like gym at all! I was a dancer and when I tried to do anything else athletic I failed, miserably!

  9. How horrible that people ask if you wish one of your boys was a girl. I wish some people would keep their nose out of family size etc.

  10. I've met quite a few ignorant people in my days...you just have to be the better person...but I probably would have rolled my eyes too. I loved dodgeball in gym. Janice

  14. I really do love pink but yellow is my favorite color. Love the photo of your grandparents, so sweet! I've been lucky enough to go to Orlando with my husband a few years in a row and was able to do several of the Disney parks and I loved them. Silly question for someone to ask.....of course their health is the important factor in the birth of a baby.

  15. What a neat photo, is that your grandparents?
I hope some day you get to travel to Disney World. It sounds like that would be a hit with your family!

  16. Love the cartoon. I used to get asked so are you going to stop now you have one of each? We didn't so I have a girl and 2 boys but I think it's quite a personal question to ask, especially if you don't know the person that well.
