It is a Captain America Hodgepodge

It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge!
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

1. How did you welcome the month of July, and tell us one fun thing you did to celebrate the 4th. (or the weekend for any non-USA residents playing along today)

We traveled to spend the weekend with family.
We played a ton of games.
Ate fun summer food.
And enjoyed fireworks.

 2. Right now..what's your favorite red thing? white thing? blue thing?

My favorite red thing right now...my red geranium
My favorite white thing right now...is our little kitten Catsby.
My favorite blue thing right now...fresh blueberries.

   3. Wave the white flag, raise a red flag, fly your freak flag...which 'flag' have you flown most recently? Explain.

I would have to say the white flag.
I had to surrender my opinion to someone .

4. According to Cond Nast Traveler these are the seven best places to visit in July-

a boat safari in Botswanna's Okavango Delta, Riviera Maya Mexico (it's whale shark season and apparently you can swim with them), Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Pamploma Spain, St. Petersburg Russia, the Fuji Rock Festival at Mount Naeba Japan, the Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria

If time and money weren't factors would you want to see any/all of these? Which would you most like to see and why?

I would like to visit the following...
Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons
St. Petersburg, Russia
Salzburg Festival in Salzburg, Austria

On the top of the list...is Salzburg Festival in Salzburg, Austria.
Why? I think it would simply be amazing.

5. Grilled cheese, pimento cheese, or mac and cheese...your favorite from the cheesy treats listed?

Grilled Cheese

As a Wisconsin girl I also have to add .... Cheese Curds!!!

 6. What makes you sweat?

Summer in Wisconsin = Humidity
Humidity makes me sweat!

7. Your favorite movie with a 'patriotic' theme of some sort?

I love Captain America.

 8. Insert your own random thought here.

Prayer Request
A dear friend of ours is ill. He has been in and out of the hospital for the last month.
We are praying for wisdom for the medial staff to diagnosis what is wrong.
At this time the what is wrong is not clear.

Thank You

  1. Prayers for your friend. Your July is off to a great start. Red geraniums and blue berries are two of my favorite things. We are back to heat and humidity here too. Hubby loves Capt. America!! Did you see the new movie. I saw most of it! ;)

  4. Oh gosh, I will pray for your friend. That's so frustrating and worrying. I hope you had a pleasant 4th! Yes to cheese curds! It's lunch time, so now you've helped me decide what to eat. ;-)

  5. Hi Carla! Praying for your friend and for wisdom for those treating him. That is frustrating.
I love fresh blueberries. I don't know what cheese curd is but I'm sure it is delicious.

  6. Sending a prayer up for your friend; not knowing seems to be 100 times worse than knowing the worst. Cheese Curds? I'm not sure what they are or how to enjoy them (on a cracker, on a sandwich, in a dip) must be yummy if they beat grilled cheese and mac-n-cheese. Have a good week!
    Cheers!

  7. Sorry to hear about your friend. Will include in my prayers. Not knowing is hard but as you've seen on my blog our Poppy is so much better now they have a diagnosis and the prayers have definitely helped. I hope you will soon be saying the same for your friend.

  8. I'm so sorry about your dear friend, and will pray for him, and for the doctors to figure out what is wrong! Loved your patriotic thoughts, and agree with you that waving the white flag of surrender is better to keep the peace in some situations. Hope you have a blessed week my friend!

  9. Cheese curds!! Yum! We visited family in Canada when I was a teenager, and my favorite foodie memory from that trip is eating cheese curds with brown gravy and fries. Yum! I really wish I wasn't lactose-intolerant. I miss "real" cheese.

  13. Praying for your friend and sending hugs to you during this difficult time. As far as this week's hodgepodge - Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, with a Grilled Cheese in one hand! Sounds like a perfect combo!

  14. This is a nice picture of our grand Flag. You know, I have a thing for red flowers too and always have to stop whenever I see them. :)

Just said a prayer for your dear friend, Carla. May God be with him and his family right now.

  16. Red Geranium is a great answer. They are a favorite of mine. I just had Fried Cheese Curds at Culver's in Florida. They were yummy! Haven't seen Caption America yet but will see it on DVD. Praying for your friend.
