Naturally Curly Hair

Happy Wednesday
We usually have the Hodgepodge today. Joyce the author of the Hodgepodge is on Summer Break.
The Hodgepodge will be back next week.

I found this funny on Pinterest .... well I just chuckled.
I have natural curly hair, let me tell you, Summer in Wisconsin can be a crazy time for natural curly hair. Humidity loves to play games with natural curly hair.

Over the years I would fight my curls. I would try so hard to tame them.
I am happy to report I have come to love my curly hair and it is just who I am.

Our son Sam has my natural curly hair. I am so happy he embraces it, in fact he loves it.

Let us talk hair.
Have you struggled with curls?
Have you struggled with no curl?

Have you said,"This is me!" and are happy with your hair?

  1. I have naturally wavy hair but I've always loved naturally curly hair or super straight hair. It's good to embrace what we've got!!

  2. I have always admired your pretty hair! My hair is naturally curly, also (like my late dad's). My sis has straight hair like mom's. I was always trying to straighten mine and sis wanted hers curly! lol At my age, I just accept gratefully what I have been given and am happy!

  3. Oh, Carla. I so get it! I went through years of taming and then embracing curly hair...once I turned 60 I went back to straightening it again...lol....crazy for sure-but I will say that once-straightened it stays pretty straight and does not get as frizzy in the wonderful WI humidity. Love YOUR curls, girlie! xo Diana

  4. This is the cutest cartoon! Well, my thing is that I have really thick hair, a lot. It can be hard to cut and one hairdresser kidded about paying double! I think when we are younger, we are so hard on ourselves and our looks. Once we pass middle age, we have settled into ourselves and can be happy with who we are.

  5. Of course we all wish we had curls! heehee! My hair is straight but I have enough body to get it to turn under. And now that I don't color my hair, I am really loving it! It's so soft and easy to take care of! Hugs!

  6. I do battle with stick straight hair, that only goes limper and more straight in the humidity! But, I have tried to be happy with it, as I imagine if I had curly hair I would wish it was straight :)

  7. Glad you are embracing the curls Carla. I have wavy thick hair so I have to keep mine pretty short or I grow wings lol! Have a fabulous rest of the week.

  8. When I was small I had pin straight hair, so straight that I used to perm it in the 80's when the Madonna big hair look was in. Then in the 90's it started curling by itself...but not good curls...curls (frizz) like Laraine Newman from the old Saturday Night Live. I learned how to tame it and make the most of my curls just in time for the super straight look to come back into vogue. Of course. Now, at middle age, it is somewhere in between curly and straight and that's all just fine with me! Embrace the curls!! :) Fun topic!

  9. You're so cute Carla! I have long, straight hair. So, that's one thing we don't have in common my friend! Hope you're having a great week!

  10. My hair is thick and always had a natural wave which was nice when I was younger and wore my hair long and straight and parted in the middle. Now that I'm older I still like long hair but get it permed. I love curly hair!

  11. I have some wave in my hair, always goes frizzy in summer's humidity. Currently a straightener is my friend.

  12. I have curly hair too. I blow dry it straight and sometimes use a flat iron because it seems with the humidity my hair gets bigger not curlier ;) If I could get my curls to be beautiful spiral curls I'd wear it that way. Have a great weekend :)
