In August swallows southward fly,

Summer's waning, fall is nigh.

August went by in a flash for our family. The next thing that happened was the first day of school, garden harvest and crisp autumn air.

I wanted to share a few things that happened in August that I  simply ran out of time to share with you.

August 28th
We celebrate Tasha Tudor birthday. She is one of my favorite artists.
I enjoy her books and one of my favorites is Around the Year.

 My dad is doing well.
August 18th we celebrated his 68th birthday!
He is on the mend and off many of the medications that he started with.
Thank you for your continued prayers for him.
His motto for each day is the same as the day after his surgery.

"Have the Best Day Ever."

The feeling of Autumn started the last week of August.
Cooler temperatures, garden harvest and late summer booms.

During a recent road trip we stopped for gas.
I was walking back to the vehicle from the gas station and noticed this grasshopper sitting on the charge station for the electric cars. He must be charging up for his flight southward.

Thank you for the prayers for our family and Marv during the clean up of Hurricane Harvey.
We have friends in the path of Hurricane Irma, sending love and prayers to all.

  2. What a neat celebration....Tasha Tudor's birthday! Do you remember back in the day when she was the writer/artist in residence for Victoria Magazine? And can you believe I don't have any of her books??? I have checked them out from the library, but now I'm on a quest to find Around the Year!

Have a great week! We've battened down the hatches for Irma. :/

  6. I'm so glad your Dad is doing well! What a funny place for a grasshopper to be! Maybe he needed a bit of a charge. The flowers are so pretty! What are the tiny yellow ones?

  11. So happy your dad is doing much better! His attitude is most certainly part of the reason he is doing so well! Love his motto :) I don't know where summer went either! We wait for it all year, and then it just flies by! Fall is here now in full earnest. My pumpkins are turning orange, leaves are turning yellow and red, nights are cooler, and days are shorter... the seasons never stay for very long, well, maybe except for ole man winter, lol! Always enjoy my visit with you Carla. I love Tasha Tudor too. What a special lady she was. Hugs to you today :)

  12. Glad your dad is doing better. I like his motto. The yellow flowers are so pretty! It has been feeling like fall here too. We have turned off the air conditioner and sleep with the windows open at night. I love it that way.
