Goodbye January ~ It is the Hodgepodge

Happy Belated Birthday to my Sweetheart.
January 24th!

It is Wednesday, that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

 1. Speaking of endings....at your wit's end, at loose ends, a dead end, burn the candle at both ends, all's well that end's well, or no end in sight...which 'end' phrase might best be applied to your life lately? Explain.

 at your wit's end

Our family got the flu! Bad, bad, bad news. My husband and I both have not been ill in years.  We are thankful to be back to the living this week.

 2. What was a must have accessory when you were growing up? Did you own one? If so tell us what you remember about it.

I do not remember a must have accessory while growing up. It will be fun to read others. It might trigger my memory.

 3. Something that made you smile yesterday?

Those two boys of mine. My oldest has really been a silly as of late, always making me laugh.

 4. January 30th is National Croissant Day. Do you like croissants? Sweet or savory? We're having chicken salad for lunch...would you rather have yours served on a croissant, a wrap, a bagel, bread, or a roll of some sort?

I like croissants. My youngest son Atticus LOVES croissants and if they are in sight, he will eat as many as he can.  We like both sweet and savory.

I will have my chicken salad in a wrap. Yum.

 5. Sum up your January in fifteen words or less.

We got the flu. Missed a week of life, including my husbands birthday.

 6.  Insert your own random thought here.

We have several fun activities coming in the month of February. Happy everyone is on the mend to enjoy. We have two ski trips planned and a special Winter Carnival we are attending.

  4. I am so sorry you had the flu (all of you)....we have it in our family, too, but so far I have been spared even though I have been caretaking one of the little ones that has it. Fingers crossed here!

Love your answers, Carla, and love the picture of you and the boys. xo Diana

  5. I'm glad you're all feeling better. It makes you really appreciate your health, doesn't it? Happy Birthday to your honey! I'm ready for January to be over, bring on February! I used to carry a comb in my back pocket, was that my accessory?

  6. Happy Belated Birthday to your husband. I'm glad you are all feeling better. I think I wanted a little house with the proverbial picket fence and a husband and two kids when I got older. lol That's the only thing I can remember... I wonder if anybody else wanted this, lol...

I love that cool snowman with the glasses. Goodbye January and Hello February.

    Hugs, Julia❤️

  7. Happy Birthday to your husband! I love the picture of you and the boys. It's so cute how tall they are getting, "taller than mom"! The flu is scary this season. Hope you all stay well.

  8. Those cupcakes look yummy, Carla. Happy belated birthday to your sweetheart. Love the smiles on your boys' faces (yours, too!). My favorite accessory as a little girl was my pop beads. That was probably before your time, but for me they were so cool. :) I love croissants and actually ordered one at Starbucks yesterday for our drive back home from Lewiston, ID. It's been a long time since I've had one because we're 99% gluten free, but yesterday I couldn't resist. Oh, it was soooo good. It sounds like you've got a fun February planned. Glad you're enjoying good health at your home, again. Hugs.

  20. Another food Atticus and I have in common, the croissant!
Did you have ribbon barrettes growing up? That was the first thing I thought of when reading that question. Like these: http://www.liketotally80s.com/2011/03/ribbon-barrettes/

  21. So sorry to read about your battles with the flu. So far my flu shot is doing its job. SWMBO has been spared the flu also but she compensated with a couple of infections. UGH! I am with you on the accessory question, I apparently did not get it.
All the best on your ski trips and at the winter carnival. Have a wonderful week.

  24. I'm so sorry Y'all got the flu! A friend's husband has been in the hospital for two weeks so far from the flu. They had them call in the family at first thinking he wouldn't make it but he did. They hope he'll come out of ICU this weekend. It's just awful! February sounds like it's going to be a blast!
