On the Road Friday ~ To the Pumpkin Patch

Hello,
We are off to the Pumpkin Patch today!
On Halloween night, the 'Great Pumpkin' rises out of the pumpkin patch, then flies through the air to bring toys to all the good little children everywhere. Wouldn't you like to sit with me in the pumpkin patch on Halloween night and wait for the Great Pumpkin?
Linus
I am so glad my boys are still excited to go pick out a pumpkin. I get just as excited!
Something about  going to the pumpkin patch...it just makes me smile.
It can be so hard to pick just the right one.
Atticus looks to see how the face will look all carved out and tends to pick out big, round pumpkins.
Sam likes to find tall pumpkins.
My hubby knocks on them....looking for the pumpkin that has the most seeds.
We always save our pumpkin seeds and roast them in garlic salt...yummy!!
Do you decorate for Autumn with pumpkins?
Do you carve pumpkins to celebrate Autumn?
And how about roasting pumpkin seeds, do you have a fun way to roast pumpkin seeds?

  1. We did pumpkin carving one year with my stepdaughter and a group of her friends. They were around 10 years old. About 10 minutes in, they got bored and wandered off and the adults had to finish. Needless to say, that was the last year I pushed for a pumkin-carving session "for the kids' sake!"

  2. We always loved pumpkin carving with our kids. Going to the farm was always fun. So many good memories. We don't carve now, but I usually have a pumpkin or two on the porch.

  5. Congrats to Meredith.
Visiting the pumpkin farm is always fun. I love fall weather and especially seeing the children looking for the perfect pumpkin. Many of the pumpkin farms here in north GA also have hay rides, candied apples, apple cider slush, etc. Have a great weekend.

  7. I used to do pumpkin carving but haven't carved any for several years now. My kids and grandkids do and it's fun seeing their creations each year.

  9. Congrats to Meredith. We carve pumpkins at our store and most of the businesses in town pass out candy, including us. Then we go out to dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants in town. Its our Halloween tradition. Janice

  10. I have to know about knocking on the pumpkins!!! How does he know which ones have the most seeds? This trick would save me so many disappointments! I am craving my seeds just salted right now, then I am going to put them in the dehydrator... Nice and salty that way. If I have enough seeds I want to try a teriyaki flavor!

  11. I like plain old salt and olive oil pumpkin seeds but I also like cinnamon sugar pumpkin seeds. I miss going to the pumpkin patch with the kids. I'm hoping we can at least get to one this season, even if it's only me and the hubs!
