On the Road Friday ~ Northern Wisconsin State Fair, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin

It is Friday and it is time for.. On the Road Friday!

July 9th, Jeremy and I decided to visit the Northern Wisconsin State Fair. We had not been to the fair since 2016. We enjoyed several shows. A comedy routine, several bands and dancers. We also enjoyed seeing the animals, eating some fun fair food and we even went up in the sky.

Here we go to the fair!

I always love seeing the cows getting all pampered and ready for the show.

I fell in love with these Miniature Hereford Cattle. They were cute and gentle.

My sister has this breed of chicken. My sister's hen is named Millie, I sent her this photo to share that Millie's friends where at the fair.

Keeping the sheep clean for the show, with these pretty outfits.

 Styling Sheep!

Another shot of my favorite, the Hereford.

Brown Swiss.. another reminder of my sister, she loves Brown Swiss cows.

It is time to eat! There were so many food trucks. It was really difficult to decided. We decided on Island Vibe~Caribbean Food.

Monkeys at the fair!

And Up we Go!

Our boys apartment is that away.

We had a fun day at the fair. We enjoyed a bag of kettle corn and blackberry ice tea too.

Thank you for coming along today!

Funny on Wednesday!

Photo taken in Madison, Wisconsin, November 2019.

A nursery school teacher was delivering a station wagon full of kids home when a fire truck zoomed past. Sitting in the front seat of the truck was a Dalmatian dog. The children started  arguing about the dog's duties.

"They use them to keep crowds back." said one youngster.

"No." said another. "He's just for good luck."

A little red - headed girl brought the argument to a close. "They use dogs," she said firmly,"to find the fire hydrant."

Have a great rest of the week my friends!

Freedom Rings and it is the Hodgepodge!

Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge!

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

Click here to join the fun!

From this Side of the Pond

1. Tell us about one small blessing you have counted in the past week?

Safe travel for family and friends during the holiday week.

 2. Bastille Day is celebrated on July 14th...have you ever been to France? Any desire to visit or re-visit, and if so what site or city would you most want to see? (pretend for a minute international travel isn't an issue)

I have not been to France.

Yes, I would like to visit. I would enjoy visiting rural areas of France. I enjoy learning about agriculture in other areas. I would enjoy seeing French farms.

3. A food associated with France that you love?

A classic French baguette.

4. Something you recently purchased where a coupon was involved? Do you regularly shop with coupons?

One of our favorite markets, Woodman's, has coupons placed next to products. We recently purchased some frozen onion rings and a coupon was included.
I do not cut coupons, but I will use them if available at the store.

5. You have to give something away this week...what will it be?
A flower bouquet.

 6. Insert your own random thought here.

One of my favorite historical fiction works about the French Revolution is  ~ A Tale of Two Cities ~ author Charles Dickens ~  I read it aloud to my boys. It is one of our favorites.

I highly recommend it to celebrate Bastille Day and how important freedom is!

Rescue Mission

See that little robin. Well, he is the main character of this story. Do you see the net like stuff that his mom made that nest out of? Well, that is the cause of the rescue mission.

This is the second year that a robin family nested on top of our birdhouse. This year the robin got some kind of netting in the makings of the nest. Three of the four babies did fine leaving the nest. One remained over night, which I thought was odd. In the morning I looked closer at the little guy. He had some of the netting stuck around his leg, making it impossible to leave the nest.

And so a rescue mission was put into action. My husband carefully caught the little robin, I had scissors in hand and we carefully snipped the netting off the leg of the little robin.

All the time the little robin was squawking.  The parents dive bombing and squawking.

Ah, there  is a happy ending. The little fella was so happy to have the netting off his leg. He was no longer held down, he could fly and fly away he did.

My Little Whiskey Barrel!

 Hello Friends,

I have my little whiskey barrel all set up again this season.

I had a great experience at the pet store when I purchased my 10 new little pond fish for .18 cents each.

The young man that helped me was fantastic. He was so kind and fun. He asked me what I wanted my fish for. I shared with him all about my little whisky barrel. He smiled and said "well, I will pick out some pretty fish for you, because usually these feeder fish are dinner for turtles or piranha!"

My happy little fish.

The Welcome To My Garden sign was passed down to me from Marv.

I purchased two Florida water plants to go into the little whisky barrel too. The fish love hiding in the plants. This simple way of adding a little water feature to my garden, well, it makes me smile.

P.S

No turtles or piranhas allowed.
