15 years today! May 31, 1997 - May 31, 2012

15 years ago today, we said our "I do's"
It was an interesting wedding day, family issues, wedding cake falling over and a reception we did not plan!

Someone asked me Sunday after church, "If you could do it all over again, would you?" "Oh, yes, I would!" I replied.
Marring Jeremy, I would do all over again. The wedding day itself,  I could do over or do with out!

I would, I love Jeremy. God has blessed me with a wonderful husband. He is my best friend. We have a blessed relationship, we are best friends. When I say that, I mean it. I do not have a girl best friend. Some may think that strange. I can explain. Jeremy and I have been through a lot of junk together. We only had each other. Some of the junk happened before we became believers in Jesus! We found Jesus together! Two, lost people and we find Him together!

Today, I thank God for Jeremy! My best friend.

Hunter Safety

Sam recently passed the Wisconsin Hunter Safety course. We attended an all day field day. It was well done. The instructors impressed me with the passion they shared with the students. A great program! Job well done to the staff.
Sam is wearing the blue hat. Practice during field day on a cold late April day.
Sam is ready to go. Good job in the sitting position.
I love this photo, Sam is practicing his next shot.
Now for the real thing.
Yay! I passed!
Great Job!!
Do you have a fun hunter safety story? If you live in another state, do you have a hunter safety program?

Spinach Salad with Bacon and Roasted Mushrooms

Spinach Salad with Bacon and Roasted Mushrooms
I made this delicious salad to go with our grilled turkey for Mother's Day. We loved it! I let our guests put on what they wanted , the recipe suggests putting it all together.
Enjoy!

Spinach Salad with Bacon and Roasted Mushrooms
8 thick slices of bacon cut crosswise into 1/4 inch wide pieces
4 cups sliced mushrooms
1 large red onion
3 tablespoons olive oil
Juice of a lime (about 2 tablespoons)
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 cups of spinach

Preheat oven to 425 degrees - place bacon, onions and mushrooms on to pan and roast until bacon is crisp. About 15 to 20 minutes.
Meanwhile in a small microwaveable bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, oregano, salt and 2 tablespoons of water. Microwave on high for 30 seconds.
Place spinach in a large bowl, sprinkle bacon mixture over spinach. Drizzle warm dressing over salad and toss to combine.

God Bless the USA

My country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty
Of thee I sing:
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrim's pride,
From every mountain side
Let freedom ring.

On the Road Friday

On the road to National Day of Prayer
First Thursday of May
A note from President Harry S. Truman

But all of us - at home, at war, wherever we may be - are within the reach of God's love and power. We all can pray. We all should pray. We should ask the fulfillment of God's will. We should ask for courage, wisdom, for the quietness of soul which comes alone to them who place their lives in His hands.

Pray for America
The Lord reigns forever, he has established his throne for judgment. He will judge the world in righteousness, he will govern the peoples with justice. The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Psalm 9:7-10

Pray for Government
All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord.

Psalm 86:9

Pray for Repentance
Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Isaiah 55:7

Pray for Wisdom
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

James 1:5

Pray for Peace
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John 14:27

Lite-brite

I still have a few of my toys from when I was growing up. I still have my lite-brite. I loved playing with it, designing fun pictures or making the patterns that came with. I recently helped Atticus make up one that says....

Star
Wars

He enjoyed creating. We all enjoyed sitting in the living room admiring it.
Did you have a lite-brite?
Do they still make lite-brite?

Have a wonderful day!

Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my way.
Psalm 119:105

Linking up with Lori -  Think Quotes  now it is your turn! Give it a try!

Happy Birthday

I decided to tell my son that President Obama cancelled May 18th. :)  It did not work...he said "Mommmmm!"

I said "You are 10 today, I just don't like it, you are growing up too fast." I give him a fake shot in the arm of my "make you stay small potion" I have been doing that for years...I guess I have to work on that potion it is not working.

Happy Birthday Atticus
Have a great day!

Crayon Art

A friend of mine sent me an e mail/you tube explaining crayon art to me. I loved it. I pondered a few ideas to make something special for my Mom for Mother's Day. I decided to create a flower garden. This is my first crayon art creation. I plan to do another for my sister. My boys are interested in creating one too. Atticus has a great idea up his sleeve, so I am excited to see how it turns out. I will be sure to share it with all of you too.
Using a hot gun or you can use a blow dryer I melted the crayons.
I was a bit disappointed in my flowers. But, my Mom loved it! She knew right where she was going to hang it.
Have you tried crayon art? What fun creations have you come up with? Happy Creating!

Mother Says

Mother Says
Famous Last Words
If you do not stop, your face will freeze like that.

I only have 2 hands.

Let me kiss it to make it better.

Because I said so.

Because I am your Mother.

Go ask your Father.

Eat it, it is good for you.

Don't put that in your mouth, you do not know where it has been.

I don't care who started it.

Get your hair out of your face.

You call that music?

Clean your plate, there are starving children.

Money does not grow on trees.

If all your friends jumped off a cliff would you do it too?

Don't ever forget that I love you.

You'll always be my Baby.

Happy Mother's Day
My Mom and Me.

Sharing Popcorn

We live about three miles from Barron, Wisconsin. Barron has become the home to many Somalians.I am not exactly sure of how they stared to move to Barron, but I do know it had something to do with the employment opportunity they received from the Turkey Store. It has created tension for some, opportunity for some and confusion for many.

Sharing Popcorn
My story starts with a little girl named Josie. She is the little sister of my boys friends Drew and McKenna. She is an outgoing little girl, full of love and mischief.
Saturday was our first Soccer game. Sam was busy playing soccer, we were busy watching the game and Josie was busy sharing popcorn.
The soccer game was held on the field located close to the apartment complex that houses most of the Somalian population of Barron. Several of the Somalian children were watching the game or playing with the other kids. Atticus was busy playing with some of the boys and girls. Josie made friends with one of the Somalian girls, they played together, visited and eventually sat in the lawn chair next to me, sharing a bag of popcorn Josie's dad bought her.
I smiled and I thought...it could be that easy. We could simply share a bag of popcorn! If we would let it be that easy. Difference in culture, not understanding each other and  putting up walls. Both sides are guilty.

I pray for the Somalian people of Barron. The boys have had opportunity to reach out to some of the kids, they are so receptive and are so thankful for the friendship we show.

Thank you Josie for sharing that bag of popcorn!

Let's not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest - if we do not give up.

My Mom

My Mom
My mom is a gifted seamstress. She created and sewed my wedding dress. She mends several items for the boys. They both are shocked at how fast grandma is at the sewing machine.
My mom created the following pattern for some pillows. They turned out so lovely! Everyone who has seen them as said how much they like them. They also hinted they would not mind receiving a set.
A fun pillow created by my Mom!

Comfy and Cozy!

Time to get comfy with a book.
As we gear up for Mother's Day on Sunday, does/did your mom have a special gift? Something no other mom could seem to do as good as your mom could?

Celebrating Mom with you all!
