This and That

Hello Friends, today I am sharing a little of this and that with you.

I purchased and planted this peony two years ago and this was the first season for it to bloom.

Eskimo Pie is the name of the peony.

My husband and I cleaned our basement and three closets. We decided to have a sale. My husband named it the Driveway Sale, because it was not in the garage or in the yard.

Ms. Penelope... she does not understand when we turn on the central air in our house. She loves to lay on or in front of our heat vents during the heating season. When it is time to turn on the central air, she smells the vents and jumps back when the cold air blows out.

Shut the door, not that it lets in the cold ~ But that it lets out the cozyness.

I recently prepared 15 vases for a Celebration of Life. One of my customers who shops regularly at the Flower Shack contacted me about designing 15 vases for her Grandma's Celebration of Life.

Her grandma loved receiving a bouquet from the Flower Shack and was always impressed with how long the flowers lasted in the vase. I was so happy to hear that. I strive for vase life in designing my bouquets.

I was blessed to design the bouquets for the Celebration of Life.

The hardest part is the transport. I was happy to have my husband who is a master at packing help me make the bouquets secure for transport.

 Ready to go...

That is just a little of this and that happening in my neck of the woods.

Fill in the Gaps

Hello Friends,

Today I am going to share the article I wrote for the June issue of our village newspaper, Cameron Chronicle, "The Little Paper with Personality."

Fill in the Gaps

By Carla TePaske of Cameron WI ~ The Little Garden That Could

The garden season is upon us. As we look out at our borders we may see some gaps. This is the perfect time to fill those gaps. Many Garden Centers are having sales. Using annuals like marigolds, zinnias and snapdragons are a perfect way to pop color in the areas that you need to fill in your borders.

Do not be afraid to try planting a few vegetables in those empty spots as well. Not only are you filling the gaps, you will be able to have fresh vegetables.

Remember to deadhead flowers as they go over, this will encourage more flowers all throughout summer.

Prepare for summer storms by staking your taller perennials and vegetables.

Until next time, happy gardening!

It is a Strawberry Shortcake Hodgepodge!!

Hello Friends,

It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.

And it is Strawberry Shortcake season!!

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

1. What does productivity look like to you?

Always deliver more than expected.

Life does not give you what you want, it gives you what you work for.

2. What was your fondest (or one of your fondest) memory of High School?

A memory from High School... I was crowned Happiest Female in our class.

 3. What did you do the summer after High School?

I moved in with my Uncle Paul and Aunt Sally, they lived close to the Technical College I was going to start classes at. I worked as a lifeguard.

 4. June 14th is National Strawberry Shortcake Day...are you a fan, and if so will you celebrate? How do you make yours? Have you been strawberry picking? If so what do you do with all those berries?

It is just coming on Strawberry season here in Wisconsin. We ate four strawberries from our little patch last night. Yes, I am a fan of strawberries. We will be going strawberry picking at a local strawberry farm that is owned and operated by an Iraq War Veteran. We have been visiting this farm for many years. It is always a fun morning to head out to the strawberry fields. We enjoy eating them fresh, we freeze lots for winter eating and we also make strawberry jam.

 5. What's something you always splurge on?

Good quality bacon!! We splurge on good cuts of meat. We have a favorite meat market we enjoy going to get fresh smoked bacon, homemade bratwurst and more.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I can not forget the homemade strawberry ice cream.
