Some Bunny Loves You

I do not think making Bunny Cakes are my specialty. I will say, my boys get a good laugh about the bunny cakes I have made in the past. I started this silly tradition of mine two years ago.
The first photo is my very first attempt of making a bunny cake.

My 2016 Bunny Cake is the photo below.

The boys have already been asking if I plan to make a 2017 Bunny Cake, in between laughs.

I smile and announce "Well, of course, I am."

I am thinking of making cupcakes and placing small chocolate bunnies on top.

Before, I decide not to try another true Bunny Cake, I thought I would ask my blog friends if they have any ideas or tips that have worked for them.

  1. Hi Carla! I like both of your bunny cakes. The 2016 one reminds me of one my mom made once. Very cute! I'll check back to see if your blog friends can offer a suggestion for this year's cake. Have fun.

  2. Your cakes are cute, Carla. Have you seen the bunny butt cupcakes? Those are really fun and I bet your boys would get a kick out of them. Land O Lakes also has a pull apart bunny cake made with cupcakes recipe on their site. Have fun! That's the main thing. Hugs, Nancy

  3. Carla, I think your bunny cake looks very nice and very yummy and if the boys laugh at your cake, get them to make the next one. On the other hand, you might find more hints on Pinterest.

  6. This last cake is the same on I made many years ago! You did good, really great face. Much better than mine. I like the first one too, especially the heart nose. I have no artistic ability at all, but it looks like you do. These are so cute that I would not be able to eat them....well, almost!!

  7. Adorable! I had a bunny pan from Williams Sonoma years ago. No matter how I tried, that silly bunny would just not stand up. The cake was so dense, it would just sink into itself or flop over. I think your cupcake idea sounds brilliant! And I bet they don't giggle while they are eating your cake! ;) Yum!

  8. How cute they both are! Do the boys threaten to destroy it as soon as it's assembled? Mine would! heehee! Enjoy your week! Hugs, Diane

  9. I once made a garden cake using marzipan. I made carrots, lettuce and radishes. I used crushed oreo cookies for the dirt. Added lil chocolate bunnies. I took me hours to complete and I almost did not want to cut into it. LOL Have you tried Pinterest for some ideas. Janice

  13. I absolutely love that you have this tradition with your boys, how fun! I think they're adorable and the fact that you made these with your family makes them incredibly beautiful (and slightly funny ;). I've said it before, we can feel how much you all love each other, it's very special Carla! You're a great Mom!

  17. I like your bunny cakes! I might just make bunny cakes for the kids next weekend! Thanks for the idea. It would be individual bunny cakes. I suppose your sons make bunny cakes out of Legos. Just let them try to eat THOSE bunny cakes! ;-) I've made a couple bunny cakes like your last one. So fun. And wow, it's been a long time since I've made a carrot cake. So glad I came here looking for your Hodgepodge! I got bunny cakes instead. That's okay. xo

  18. I love your cakes, Carla! With all the love you put into them, I know everyone else does too :)
I've never even attempted making a bunny cake. I just know I wouldn't succeed! I did poke around pinterest a bit for you, but the only thing that grabbed my attention was the Easter Egg Layered Cake. That one I could handle!!
    Good luck :)

  19. They're both cute as can be, Carla! The last one reminds me of what I always think Jimmy Stewart's Harvey would look like.

Don't ever make them too perfect, you'd lose the charm of these!

  21. I think your bunny cakes are cute!! Unfortunately, I can't share any ideas as this is an area I stay far away from. I'm a cupcake kinda chick and really don't bake cakes unless forced at gunpoint....especially cakes that are supposed to look like something! :-) Can't wait to see what you come up with!! Love and hugs!
