What a Week!

 What a week..
The week of 7/15 - 7/19 was one crazy week.
It started with our youngest having an accident at work. He got his finger smashed while moving some boat anchors. We had to take him to ER. He needed a drug and alcohol test because the accident happened at work. Sadly, the clinic was short staffed and very crabby folks working at the clinic. A simple pee in a cup took 2 hours to complete.

!Good News!
He is healing well.
No further action will need to be taken after his 3 weeks of wearing this splint.
The heat and humidity built and built during our week.
By Friday 7/19 the heat and humidity was so bad that it was hard to breath. We went to Chippewa Falls that afternoon to look at an apartment with our oldest son. Getting out of the car in the city with all the buildings and concrete was like walking into a sauna or rain-forest ? I don't really know how to describe it, all I can say was I was melting.
In the mean time the sky was brewing.
A terrible storm tore apart our county.
As I type this up, it is Tuesday 7/23.. the storm hit on 7/19.. people are still out of power. We have many friends and neighbors who have major damage. Trees oh how sad to see so many big beautiful trees all down. We have friends who lost 10 to 12 trees in their yards. They are uprooted making a huge clean up.

!Good News!
The tree above just missed our oldest son's car.
No lives lost during the storm!!!
 Bites!
I ended up with some sort of bug bites. I think they are deer fly. I had an allergic reaction to them. I was in terrible pain and dizzy.
I soaked my leg in baking soda, iced it, and did that again and again.
I also put aloe on the bites. I had 5 bites all together.

!Good News!
I am happy to report I am back to 100%.

 Spilled Coffee Grounds!
My husband spilled coffee grounds. When I say spilled coffee grounds they went every place. In the heat register, under the cupboard doors, I mean everywhere.
What a mess. The shop vac now smells like coffee.

!Good News!
The kitchen got a major cleaning and the heat registers too!
With the big storm a cool front has come in blowing away the humidity. Making for some perfect summer days. And just in time.. I am off on a little getaway.

Be Back Soon!

  1. Oh my goodness, now that you've had your fair share of crazy days, I'm sure you'll be blessed with your fair share of un-crazy days, just in time for your getaway. That's how it works, right? Have yourself a lovely time.

  2. OMG...what a terrible week there. I would have peed as soon as I smashed my finger , girl. That makes my tummy flip just thinking about his poor finger. Thankful for no further repairs. So sad about all the damage in your area. The cat's flat wore out from all that is going on there. I have never had a deer fly bite, but my sister says it awful and can really hurt. Glad you are better. Get some rest and relaxation, you deserve it. Blessings to all, xoxo, love, Susie

  4. I am so sorry; what a bad week! But I am glad you are alright, and so is your home. Was this tree yours? So sad. Your kitty looks exactly like our Simba! Just as chubby too! I am glad you are going on a little fun trip. I hope you let us know where and come back with pictures. Our heat wave is finally over, and now back to a reasonable 75 degrees. It broke all records, but then most places did.

  5. P.S. How on earth can you tell what kind of bites those are?? That was scary, but at least they were not tics!

  9. What a week that was... A bad storm can make so much damage. I remember the damage hurricane Arthur caused in our area not all that long ago. I'm so glad that nobody got hurt in it. I'm glad that you are on the mend and also your son's hand, it could have been much worst.
I hope this week is going well for all of you and that you can relax a bit... I hope the power will be turned on very soon. Take care.
    Hugs, Julia

  11. Wow! Glad to hear everyone is healing and the cleanup is going well. We just got our power back on last night - lots of trees down, but thankfully no damage to our family, buildings, vehicles or animals. I'm still amazed there weren't any major injuries from this storm! I wish I would have known about your bites - I would have brought you some plantain salve! Next time let you know and I'll make you some. :)

  12. Oh my goodness! You are definitely do for a fun getaway! I'm glad Atticus healed well, and that the tree missed Sam's car! We did here that Aunt Mary had no damage, but Cousin Larry did lose some tree's. Those darn coffee grounds, at least there was a plus side!

  13. Oh Carla! What a week! Glad you can take off for a while. That extreme heat wave that covered lots of us was most miserable. It was depressing even. Hope your son's fingers get well soon. That must have hurt really bad. Those bug bites are awful! We have lots of ticks and insects here. A hot bubbly bath with Epsom salt added to the water helps the bites heal faster. Love, Henny

Bless your heart, I'm glad you are better and glad to hear your son won't have to wear the splint too long. We've had horrible heat and humidity down here as well, it does make it hard to breathe! So sad about the loss of the trees! Hope this week is better! Love and hugs sweet friend!
