Good Eats and The Hodgepodge

Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

Click here to join the fun!

 1. What's worth standing in line for?

Good eats are worth standing in line for.

I did not have to stand in line for the good eats below, all that goodness you see with that salad came from our garden. Half the green bean - mushroom tart came from the garden, the green beans.

 2. Tell us about a favorite food related memory.

I love my mom's Thanksgiving dressing/stuffing. Watching her make it as a young girl is a memory that will fill my mind and heart on Thanksgiving day when we all gather for Thanksgiving and my parents still host the special meal.

 3. What are some things you find particularly peaceful or calming?

My garden.

Can you see the HUGE butterfly?

We are enjoying our best butterfly year yet in our garden. We have so many different kinds of butterfly and moths. It has been a real joy to work in the garden and be surrounded by butterfly, hummingbirds, bees and moths.

4. Is there something you do now that gets you just as excited as it did when you were a child?

Spending time with family. I would get excited to ride my bike to grandma and grandpa's house. I would get excited when extended family would come for a week long visit to the farm. I am the same today. I get excited when my kids come to visit. And other family.

 5. To what degree are you in touch with friends from grade school? high school? college if you attended college?

I am still in touch with a friend I attended high school with and college.

No one from grade school.

 6. Insert your own random thought here.

I am waiting for something ... this is a good reminder.

  1. We've had a lot of butterflies here this year too. The purple lantana around our waterfall is full of butterflies. They love it and I love watching them there. Family coming to visit is a good answer and true for me too. Hope you have a great day!

  2. Good Morning sweet friend. Love the saying so true. That butterfly is amazing. I have had a few coming to my flowers out front this year too. Love to see them. My fave in life is seeing and spending time with my family too. We are so blessed to have them near us. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs. Kris

  3. Those butterflies are gorgeous and HUGE! There is a yellow butterfly that appears around this time every year. The first time I noticed those butterflies was when I was pregnant with our twins - almost 39 years ago. I now notice them every year.

  4. How nice to get produce from your garden- and even nicer when you get a meal made largely from garden gems :). I forgot to mention that I find spending time in the garden peaceful. Well, unless I'm listening to a political podcast which I do often when I garden and then I get riled up!! Your flowers are so pretty! Have a great day!

  5. Well done with your goodness from your garden, that is really impressive! That is such a lovely memory of your mom and wow at the huge butterfly! I keep trying to get a photo of the one's in my garden but they don't stay still long enough.

  7. Gardening was never an inclination of mine, although I did enjoy when gardening friends shared their produce with us. Now that we live in the DFW Metroplex, there aren't many gardening friends and I judge a grocery store by their produce department. Loved seeing the butterflies. What a pleasure they must bring.

  8. Good morning Carla. I will admit that I definitely would stand in line for the fish tacos that are served in Gruene Texas. They are sooo good and not like any others that I've ever tasted. I really like your random thought and I can so relate to it... Beautiful photo of the flowers..

  11. Carla, first, I love that last quote. I hope what you're waiting for brings you so much joy. You are fortunate to see the butterflies this summer.....and in your garden! I liked your answer to number 3. It's nice you have your garden for peace and calm. Your mushroom tart looks Yummy. I love mushrooms on my pizza and burgers. Thanks for sharing your memory of your mom's Thanksgiving stuffing and watching her make it when you were growing up. I enjoyed this hodgepodge, Carla.

  16. Great saying, Carla! I love your memories of family and food, too. I would say that my answers would be very similar. As far as waiting on line goes, I'm pretty patient, but long, long lines? Hmmm. I've got to really want something badly for that kind of wait. Haha! Happy Wednesday!
