Summer Days and it is the Hodgepodge

Our favorite Northern Wisconsin lake to paddle and fish.

Hello Friends, Happy August and let us soak in the last days of summer.

It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

Click here to join the fun!

 1. The midpoint of summer (believe it or not) is August 7th. Describe a perfect summer day. Have you had one this year?

Yes, I have a few perfect summer days.

In June, I went to a baseball game with my family. It was a beautiful summer afternoon for a baseball game.

The first weekend of August I spent with my family.

We fished on our favorite Northern Wisconsin lake. It was a bottle up summer day.

My dad commented, "it was perfect out on the lake."

And it was.

2. What's one thing you wish you knew before starting high school?

When I was a freshman in high school, the senior class had some MEAN girls. I was lucky that my neighbor girl and friend,  was a junior and she was a tough cookie. As long as I had Paulette as my friend, those senior girls left me along. Not so for my friend Tracy. Those girls got her one day after class.

I wish I would have known how mean some girls could be... this group was down right nasty, pull your hair, dump your books out of your arms and more.

Me with my fishing gear. The only nasty thing while fishing was the mean old flies. Do you spy the big one on my pant leg.

3. What's something that bothers you if it's not done perfectly?

The way I make our bed. I like it just so.

4. What's the most overrated food you're convinced people are just pretending to enjoy? What's a trendy food you actually do enjoy and would say is definitely not overrated?

I do not know what food is overrated right now. All my blog friends will have to fill me in on this question. If we are talking about cottage cheese, I do enjoy cottage cheese. My husband and I love a bowl of cottage cheese with fruit, peaches are one of our favorites to mix in our cottage cheese.

5. Wrapping it up this week with five fun this or thats...

personal stylist or personal chef? personal stylist
dance like nobody's watching or sing like nobody's listening? sing like nobody's listening
unlimited tacos or free pizza? pizza
bookshelf organization-by size or by genre? genre
ten minutes late or ten minutes early? ten minutes early

 6. Insert your own random thought here.

A few more photos of a perfect summer's day...

  3. Aww, great pics, except of that fly. Wow, he's a big one. Glad you've had some perfect summer days with your family. They sound like great ones.

  4. I can not imagine the big flies that many states have....nor the mosquitoes. I have known some classes with some very mean and selfish girls. Our local high school had a few of those this past year and it is a form of bullying to say the least. This pond with the lily pads is so interesting...I'm guessing there are some really big fish in that pond. The summer days are here and I'm thinking I need Fall to come early this year.... lol

  6. The watermelon looks yummy. Why do we have mean girls? I am glad your friend was your safety. I am glad you got to fish with the family and enjoy a beautiful summer day. Hugs. Kris

  7. That sounded like a perfect lake day (minus the pesky flies!). I did see it on your pant leg. Huge! The watermelon looked so refreshing. I'm glad you didn't get the brunt of those bullies at school!! I prefer to be early and I like cottage cheese. There were years when I was off of it but now I like it again!

  8. I was prey to mean catty girls in HS - and of course it was the popular cheerleading girls. So I went in a totally opposite direction. When I was on Facebook, they still haven’t changed.
That watermelon looks good. I just bought one, cut it open and it was a light pink. Awful and disappointing since I was really looking forward to eating a sweet watermelon 🍉
    I love cottage cheese.

  9. A perfect day, looks so nice to be on the lake. I would say, family bbq or any family event really. Poor Tracy, I hate that. I can't get enough watermelon in the summer, it's ridiculous.

  10. Perfect except for the flies - ouch! Wow - those girls sound like they were really mean. I'm trying to remember if I went to school with anyone that was that mean! I'm glad you had a friend!!

  11. So real and relatable. Thank goodness for strong friends like Paulette! I had to chuckle about the bed-making some things just have to be done right

  13. I DO see that big fly on your pants! I had lots of experience with mean girls in high school. they were so mean that they kicked a very pregnant beagle down a flight of steps. I love the lily pads; there are never any around here.

  15. What fantastic days you have had over the summer.
Teenage girls can be so mean.
Cottage cheese is talked about so much at the moment. I love the stuff. I've never tried it with fruit though, I will have to.

  16. Those are wonderful things you did in questions #1. I'm glad you had Paulette. Sorry about those flies while fishing. That makes sense with the bed. We like cottage cheese too and Mark just bought a big one at Costco this week. We had the same answers for #5 except for the books. Most people said genre. Love your random.

  17. I laughed at your bed comment - my Hubby is the same whereas I like it made properly but once I'm in it I couldn't care less where the covers end up. Sounds like you've had some lovely summer days.
