Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. What do you like most about your family?
When the going gets tough, we will rally to help one another. Some of our family is spread across the miles, my one uncle and aunt living in Texas. This past year my Texas aunt had hip surgery. The Wisconsin families rallied to send care packages and made phone calls to check in with her.
I do like the color orange. Our son Atticus who is sporting that bright orange colored stocking cap below, he would wear bright orange stocking caps all winter long during his growing up years. This started when he was just a little guy, he would pick out an orange stocking cap as his new hat for winter.
He is holding a bluegill he caught ice fishing in the below photo.
I love all my photos of him sporting his orange stocking hat!
Below he is older and yep, still sporting an orange stocking cap.
We are on the shores of Lake Superior in the below photo.
My husband and I worked very hard to become debt free. We are going on year number three, and it feels so good. What is possible? We feel that if any changes in our life were to happen we have the freedom to make decisions that we may not have been able to do if tied in debt.
pumpkin bread or apple cider donut ~ apple cider donut
cozy sweater or cozy hoodie ~ cozy sweater
apple picking or pumpkin picking ~ pumpkin picking
scary movie or Hallmark movie ~ Hitchcock movie
hay ride or corn maze ~ hay ride
twinkle lights or candles ~ candles
autumn hike or autumn bonfire ~ autumn hike

All you need is love and a safe place to rebuild trust. I believe God puts people and dogs and cats in our path for a reason. Ernie had a long journey to find you but now he is living his best life. He landed with two very loving and special people. This warms my heart. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteMorning Carla...your answers to family sounds so much like my own. Families stick together and when there is a need..it's time to pull together and help..this is awesome! Atticus looks so cute in his Orange Taboggan. What a big accomplishment to be debt free. Makes you feel FREE!! hugs to you Carla..
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story...Ernie truly has been blessed by joining your family and in turn has become a blessing! 💕 Also, Hitchcock movies are my October favorites. I watched The Birds last night while I made a squash pie! Happy Hodgepodge!!
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a wonderful story about Ernie and how you rescued him and now he´s loved and thriving. That pumpkin with his name is perfect! Congrats on being debt free! That happened to us within the past five years and it´s been amazing. I agree with everything you said about it!
ReplyDeleteHi dear friend Carla, such a lovely story! I am so happy that you are debt free! Congratulations to you! I love your family photo with Ernie! What a blessing! Adoptions are the best! I used to work in pet supplies from 1987 to 1996...the store I worked at and managed did not sell animals. I always encouraged everyone to adopt, not shop. I would tell people, "Please go to the SPCA or any rescue and save a life, then I would love it if you come here to buy your supplies. They did!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post and reading your responses.
You and your pup are lucky to have found one another. Congratulations on being debt free. It's a great feeling to be in charge of your own finances. I like the orange cap. I might need one in that shade. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat really made me smile about your family. My family is the same, we all rally to help when it's needed.
ReplyDeleteAll the apple treats sound fab!
Good job with getting debt free, it's a long process but so much freedom when everything is paid off.
I love the photo of you and Ernie! You must have had tremendous patience! Orange caps must be Atticus' trademark! I love the color orange, and the smell of oranges too.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have a really nice family, Carla and when all is said and done that is so important. Lifting each other up - and just how God intended. Plus Ernie is a part of your family and what a furry little blessing from God - which came at the perfect time for you. So much to be thankful for.
ReplyDeleteI’m thankful for you! 🥰
I love how you have given Ernie a home and a good life. Love the orange hat - easy to spot your son. Family you can count on is definitely a blessing.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely about your family. How wonderful to receive those apples. That's interesting about him liking the orange caps. They look good on him. Way to go on working on being debt free. So you are into the scary movies. Love the pumpkin you carved. So glad you have Ernie in your life.
ReplyDeleteWOW has it really been 2 years since Ernie found his furever home? He has the best place to live now. We are almost debt free, but will be when I retire next year. Just a couple of credit cards to pay off, but our home and business are paid off. YAY I know you are so happy to be debt free. Janice
ReplyDeleteAhh...hooray for Ernie. What a blessing to have family rally around to support each other. Congrats on being debt free. What a great goal and accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteHow great to be debt free! Congrats on that accomplishment!! We've been working at it, but I don't think we'll truly get there. Hooray for Ernie!! Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteHalloween is almost here and before we know it, it's Christmas! Time flies. Cute photos, btw. Especially Ernie!
ReplyDeleteOh Carla, I do enjoy your hodgepodges. I love that picture of Atticus wearing his orange stocking cap (we call them beanies here). That was so nice you were given a bunch of apples recently. The goodies you can make with them, and just eating them plain. That picture of Ernie with the "Ernie" pumpkin is delightful. And I love seeing YOU on the Queen's Chair. Have a good October week, Carla.

Ernie is so lucky to have you! Dogs (and cats) do brighten our lives, don't they? :) Lucky you, to get those apples!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to get organic apples and make apple butter and sauce! My late beloved hubby and I would make and can applesauce when we lived in Ohio. Your Ernie is so lucky to have you and I know you feel the same. 😊
