| A little craft project. Using Mod Podge creating fun Easter eggs out of old sheet music. Using the old sheet music, colored paper and silk flowers to create butterflies to add to a spring basket. |
Happy Easter Week my friends and it is the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. March is rolling on out of here. Sum up your March in ten words or less.
March weather added excitement to an already full calendar.
2. Are you afraid of heights? When was the last time you found yourself dealing with a height, and did it make you nervous?
I am not.
Below is a photo of Sears Tower ~ Chicago, Illinois ~ my sister and I had a fun adventure in the city and we had great fun exploring Sears Tower.
3. What's a word you struggle to spell on a regular basis, and sometimes need to double check before writing it down? Use the word in a sentence that tells us something about your April calendar.
Miracle
Oh this word gives me trouble.
We will be celebrating our first son's birthday in April. It was a true miracle and blessing when he arrived in this big world. It was a difficult time getting him to come on out into the world, a difficult labor indeed. Ha!
Fast forward today, he is a leader to several other young men and women.
He sends me photos of his deployments and trainings.
In this one he simply said, "Hi Mom"
Happy April Birthday Sam!
4. Love 'em or hate 'em, with Easter comes the sweet treat known as Peeps. So... do you love 'em or hate 'em? Speaking of peeps, what's your favorite way to have chicken?
No, I am not a fan.
I have used them for decorating my Easter cakes.
I love grilled chicken breasts. My husband makes up his secret sauce, he soaks the breasts in the sauce overnight before grilling.
5. This week's Hodgepodge lands on the first day of April, which happens to be National Poetry Month. Do you like poetry? Share a favorite line or two from one of your favorite poems. What makes this one a favorite?
I do like poetry.
In Flanders Fields ~ John McCrae

That is a poignant poem! Thanks for sharing it and the story of your dad. Great pic of you and your sister in Sears Tower. I enjoyed the view at the tops of tall buildings in NYC! I have used Peeps to decorate cakes, too. I forgot about it until you mentioned it! Thanks to your son for his service. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla. I am not a fan of peeps either unless they are floating in a hot chocolate lol! Have a great rest of the week and Happy Easter sweet friend. Enjoy that beautiful family. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteThat Easter craft is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh no! My heart skipped a beat just thinking about the Sears Tower. You would not get me up there.
Happy birthday to Sam! He really does sound like a miracle.
March - SUNSHINE! No, I don't care for Peeps at all. I'm very scared of heights, I wouldn't have gone out there! I remember standing on an upper floor in the World Trade Center when I was 18? and it made my stomach do flip flops.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers and photos. I definitely couldn't do the sears tower. Yikes.
ReplyDeletePowerful poem!! Happy birthday to your son!
ReplyDeletePoetry can be so powerful. Happy Birthday to Sam. What a sweet communicator he is. Happy Easter to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the poem, it's a favorite of mine too. I feel like we heard it recited a lot while living in England but less so here. I've been in the Sears Tower. I was okay and I think it's because I'm on something that isn't technically moving the way a tram or cable car does. Im praying for our troops too. Happy birthday to your son! And happy Easter to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI have always love the poem, it is a true work of genius. If I had been on that Sears Tower, I would have thrown up, had a heart attack, fainted, and screamed.
ReplyDeleteI have loved the poem even since I can remember. Happy Birthday to your son. I enjoyed your responses and your photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your miracle son:) We celebrate my oldest son's birthday in 11 days. And then mine:) Hooray for April birthdays!
ReplyDeleteNo peeps for me!
ReplyDeleteMorning Carla. I am way behind catching up on blog reading. Yes..we must always pray for our military men and women. So grateful for each of them. Girl..I am so afraid of heights. I would never ever stand out on that glass addition. My skin is crawling just looking at it. Happy April Birthday wishes to you son... Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteYou are brave...I don't like heights. I do however like peeps! Oh and I have an April baby, too. My mom was April also...sweet and calm personalities. Happy Easter! Can't wait to see that cake. (And what's in the secret sauce? I won't tell! 🤐 ) xo
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter, Carla!
ReplyDeleteLove the basket. I've been up there in the Sears tower. It's definitely worth doing. Happy Birthday to Sam. True, those peeps can look nice on a cake for Easter. We love grilled chicken breasts. I loved your answer for #5. That is sweet about your dad. Prayers going out to our troops. Have a lovely Easter.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Sam. Yes will pray for our troops. Happy Easter. Look forward to seeing the cake. wink wink Janice
ReplyDeleteYour son is fortunate to have you for a mother. I will pray for him, and for my military family members. Blessings to you at Easter and always. <3
ReplyDeleteOh that photo from the Sears Tower made me cringe!!
ReplyDeleteI memorized In Flanders Fields when I was in school too, and recited it at a Remembrance Day assembly. It's a very moving poem, very somber.
Hope you're having a great week! (And yes, I am praying for our troops, as always! Thank you to your son for his service!)
Happy April Birthday to Sam! Praying for the troops and thankful for their service! I love the ModPodge'd eggs!! We were on the same wavelength! Happy Easter...how is that Easter cake coming?
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Sam. Enjoyed your post Carla. That poem definitely pulls on the heart strings.
ReplyDeleteOld sheet music ... what a neat idea. Love that.
