Hello Friends,
Wisconsin has received rain and lots of it in some areas making our rivers swell.
It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions
1. Are you feeling more reset, restart, or full speed ahead as we move into May? Tell us why.
It is full speed ahead as we move into the month of May. May is always a busy month here with garden planting, spring projects, birthdays, our wedding anniversary and Mother's Day too.
2. Painting, sculpture, architecture, literature, cinema, theatre, music...what's your favorite form of art? Elaborate.
Oh this is a hard question for me to answer, I love, love so many forms of art.
If I have to pick just one to take with me to an island, I can only pick one. I will pick literature. I enjoy reading. I will bring a big chest of books with me to the island.
3. What time is dinner at your house? How do you feel about leftovers?
We try to eat before 7 pm.
High Fives in this house for leftovers!!
4.What's the last thing you fell down a rabbit hole investigating?
I have not watched it yet, but I read a few thoughts from those who did.
Love Story ~ John F. Kennedy Jr and Carolyn Bessette
Did you watch it?
I fell down a rabbit hole of looking at the fashion of the Kennedy's.
5. And now for a question from the book Marilyn (Memphis Bridges) gave me...
At what are you 'self-taught?'
I am 'self -taught' at cutting hair. After we got married my husband asked me to start cutting his hair. I had no idea what I was doing, but I did it. I continue to cut his hair today. I also cut our kiddos hair when they were growing up.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat.
Laura Ingalls Wilder

The picture of the raging river is so good! A chest full of books to the island- YES! I responded the same way about preferring literature. We are also big fans of leftovers. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo! I haven't watched Love Story but I recently read a book called Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed. Whoo boy. Caroline Bessette is the first chapter and wow. Definitely does not paint any of these men in a good light. The author does take some liberties I'd say, but overall yikes! I'd want a chest of books on a desert island too. Have a great day!
ReplyDeletemorning Carla. how beautiful is this raging river..I could stand there for a very long time just listening to the water as it passes under the bridge. May is such a busy month and especially for gardeners. I think it's neat that you taught yourself to cut hair. this saves a lot of money.. I've not read the book but I know it has a lot of interesting points. have a Blessed day.
ReplyDeleteI feel full speed ahead going into the new month too. That Love Story show is on my list of things that I need to watch, so many people were raving about it so it must be good.
ReplyDeleteAhh! Same! I am actually quite good at cutting hair, I do my youngest girls and my own.
That bridge and creek look exactly like one we have near us. Beautiful photo! I used to cut my sons hair and my husband's. So I'm self taught in that or at least I used to be. I'm sure I'm a bit rusty now!
ReplyDeleteLove your random thought. I need to get out in the fresh air more. Wow self taught hair cutting is brave lol. Although I did trim Hubby's hair during lockdown. Enjoy your busy month of May.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo and thought. I love walks in nature.
ReplyDeleteThe photo at the beginning is amazing - the blue sky - the roaring waters!!
ReplyDeleteRivers are pretty swollen down here in SW Wisconsin as well. I enjoy reading your hodgepodge answers.
ReplyDeleteI figured it would be full speed ahead for you, especially because of your love for gardening. Beautiful photo at the top of the post! That art question was hard. Woohoo, good for you for braving those haircuts! Have a beautiful end to the week!
ReplyDeleteLeftovers are good, and many times even better than the original dish. I wish I could cut hair!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big leftover fan, too! Cook once, eat again and again! Oh and I'm a big music fan. That would be my island take!!
ReplyDeleteI bet May is full speed ahead. You will be getting your beautiful flowers and veggies going. Yay! Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture, Carla.
ReplyDeleteYay for leftovers, sometimes they are even better the second day. May is full speed ahead! I do cut my own hair, it is super curly and it's hard to find someone who knows how to deal with the mess. And dye my gray roots, which I did this morning. Agree, reading!
ReplyDeleteQuite an interesting Hodgepodge! We are hitting the floor running in May too, starting with our Joel's birthday on May first. May Day! May Day! haha ... then comes Mother's Day as you mentioned, and our Allissa's high school graduation on the fifteenth, and her party the next day. Then it's Memorial Day and we all gather for that, and celebrate our Erica who has a birthday on May 30th, and on that same day (5/30) my good friend Marsha is getting married up in Maggie Valley NC and we will be going to that. I too love books and leftovers, haha! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe like to eat before 7 too and also eat leftovers for lunch the next day. Getting back into cross stitch has been my rabbit hole....but I sure do love it! Janice
ReplyDeleteOh, I couldn't agree more with the Laura Ingalls Wilder quote. And it applies to her books, too. Enjoy all the garden and other activities. It does get busy this month, doesn't it? Take a few moments to savor the season. I know that's easier said than done...
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the bridge and river! But I hope the flooding doesn't negatively affect you!
ReplyDeleteI guess I taught myself to cut hair as well, and did my husband's and sons' haircuts for years and years. Not my daughter's though!
Hope you're having a great week!
What a fun photo! I have been wanting to get out more, it's so beautiful this time of year. I just got a carpet cleaning so it's been fun to stay indoors, but I'm ready to get out. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe river does look beautiful. You do sound busy in May. I'm glad you enjoy reading. Good for you eating around 7. We tend to eat earlier now. No I haven't watched the Kennedy story. That is really awesome about you cutting their hair. Love your random thought.
ReplyDeleteMay is such an exciting time! I started Love Story but haven't gone back to it. I do love the 90's fashions! You are so talented...hair cutting too! I hope you're having a great day!
ReplyDeleteYou are like me---May is GO month in Wisconsin. However, we woke up to snow covered grass and vehicles this morning and 30˚ weather. This is CRAZY!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have the Kennedy story on my watch list but want to wait until I have some uninterrupted time...as if that will happen! lol
I used to cut John's hair and the kids' hair, too. One of my friends showed me how to do it and after a couple of 'so-so' results it got easy.
Have a wonderful weekend, Carla. xo Diana
A chest of books on an island is the perfect choice, and I’m smiling at your self‑taught haircutting skills. Fresh air and sunshine really are unbeatable. 🌿📚✂️
ReplyDeleteThat picture on the top is amazing! I enjoy reading too. May will be a busy month, but at least I will have some peace. I had a health scare and wrote about it on my blog. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHappy Month of May to you!
ReplyDeleteI love to read and often have multiple books I am reading at the same time.
The past week has been cold and rainy here. Did you send it from Wisconsin? I am hoping for better weather soon.
