Lovers Lane

Lovers Lane
The spot to be this Autumn.
Bring your sweetheart, a picnic lunch and enjoy!

Lovers Lane ~ Bayfield County ~ Wisconsin

Old roads winding as old roads will,
Here to a ferry, and there to a mill,
And glimpses of chimneys and gabled eaves,
Through green elm arches and maple leaves.
John Greenleaf Whittier

I love tree covered roads. I know of four and lucky for me we have one in the county I live. I also get to drive on one on my way to my parents. They are so magical, full of imagination, wonder and romance. Just the best place to take a walk with your sweetheart on an Autumn day.

How about you, have you traveled on a tree covered road?

  2. As a matter of fact I travel on a tree covered lane every time I go up the road via the farm. It's not as beautiful as it once was as hurricane Arthur damaged many of the majestic pines but it still have a nice canopy and looks like a tunel.

    I love the beautiful foliage.
    Hugs,

  3. Beautiful post, Carla! And yes, I've traveled on many tree-covered roads in our area. I suspect that we're going to lose a lot of our gorgeous fall color today with the rain. Glad I got photos while I could. Have a wonderful day!

  5. Another great post. Love these photos and the idea of a picnic! I've always wanted to create a fun picnic basket filled with bits and bobs of old vintage china!

  6. We have quite a few tree covered roads where we live, Carla. We always "take the long way home" from our errands in the next town over so we can enjoy their beauty. :) Thank you for the nice comment you left on Lin's post at my blog. I'll be interested to follow your progress in realizing your dream. God bless. ~ Nancy

  7. Such a beautiful quote. Lovely photos also. Yes I have been on some beautiful tree covered roads back in Chester County, PA where I was born and raised. Have a lovely week, Carla!

  8. How beautiful! We look forward to hiking again this Fall and winter. We've missed it but we have to wait for milder temps to get outside and hike. Enjoy your week! A picnic sounds nice! Hugs!

  10. I adore tree covered roads too! Ours aren't completely covered, but close enough to make me love them! I have wanted to visit the Bayfield area for quite some time. We have a lot of changes going on with our trucking part of life right now, and maybe.... just maybe.... we will have more free time to take some weekend journeys!
