August Days ~ It is the Hodgepodge

Hello, It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

 1. Do your actions match your words? Elaborate.

Yes, if I say something, I follow thru with it.

 2. Sick as a dog, go to the dogs, dog days of summer, dog tired, it's a dog's life, every dog has it's day, can't teach an old dog new tricks...now doggone it which saying could most recently be applied to your life?

 Dog Days of Summer
We are in the dog days of summer here in Wisconsin. The garden is happy with rain, humidity and warm days. Everything is growing, growing, growing.

 3. Your favorite book featuring a dog in the storyline? What makes it a favorite?

Because of Winn-Dixie
Author: Kate DiCamillo

I simply love this story.
I read this story aloud to my grandpa during his last summer.
It will always have a special place in my heart.

 4. What's something you hope to one day have the confidence to do?

I never know if it is best to sit back and simply let a "bossy" woman continue to be that "bossy" woman because that is the way "they" are?  Or should I say "Enough already, you no longer need to be the BIG LOUD MOUTH HEN in the HEN HOUSE."

 5. August 16th is National Tell a Joke Day. So tell us a joke.

One of our local Veterinary clinics has a sense of humor.
I took these photos February 2016. No, Wisconsin does not have snow as of yet.

 6. Insert your own random thought here.

Have a Great Day!

  2. Funny signs from the vet clinic, Carla. They usually have good ones, don't they! Love your gorgeous flowers! And yes, Lucy would be a great CEO. LOL I'm really feeling fall in the air these days. So humid, such winding down, and I was shocked to see how my squash had grown since the last time I checked! Yea! Hope you have a wonderful rest of your week. I'll have to read the Winn Dixie book. The last book I read to my dad before he died was To Kill A Mockingbird. It's a special blessing to be able to read to someone. Have a wonderful rest of your week, Carla. xo

  4. I love those vet signs. But your zinnias!! I have never seen ones with two colors like these, none around here for sure. Not even in the garden centers. Gorgeous!

  5. Looks like the vet office has a sense of humor. One of my bosses did, too- real esate office with a reader board he changed out. My favorite was: Only the lead dog gets a change of scenery.....lol

Have a great Wednesday, Carla. xo Diana

  6. Enjoyed your post today Carla. Your flowers are lovely and I can empathise with your answer to #4. I had a school friend like that then one day I just snapped. We ended up fighting in the girls toilets. Only time I ever really got into trouble at school but she wasn't quite so bossy afterwards lol (We were about 10 at the time!)

  7. Good luck with #4--I bet you chicken out!

I've never read the book but wasn't there a movie of it back a few years ago? I seem to remember watching it. I'm a sucker for dog stories and it's guaranteed I'll bawl somewhere in it.

  8. Yes, on #1, my word is everything to me. I stand by my word.
    I'm dog tired.
Clifford the Big Red Dog. I read that to the grandkids.
I think there's a bossy one in every circle but patience is a virtue. I think those Bossy Women are there to teach us humility and patience. It's a hard lesson...

    Love the vet humour.

Your zinnias are so very pretty.
    Hugs, Julia

  13. Oh, these are fun! Especially the veterinarian signs and the wish to confront the bossy woman! I really don't understand the whole issue with calling someone bossy when they're bossy. It IS a thing--whether it's a man or a woman. It can be somewhat positive--assertiveness is good, or it can be truly negative and should be called out. IMHO. When someone has to be the big loud-mouth hen ALL THE TIME! Let your friends, co-workers, employees, family members, whatever, shine sometimes, too. LOL!

  14. I tried what you described in #4 with my beloved SWMBO. I didn't see her for three days. Then I caught a brief glimpse of her with my left eye where the swelling went down. Your Vet signs are funny. Have a great week.
