April 14 ~ 15 2018
Weekend plans changed quickly as another April snowstorm hit our area.
Our boys planned a weekend birthday outing.
Friday was the day for our friends to arrive. The forecast had the possibility of freezing rain, snow and more snow. Thankfully Friday's storm held off until the late hours of the night. Saturday we had plans for an outdoor adventure. The snow started to fall and we knew best not to risk heading out in this. Plan B was made and the boys enjoyed spending some time outside in the snow with their buddies, playing board games and watching movies.
The best part of it .. because of the blizzard they are able to spend an extra night! The disappointment in the change of plans for Saturday became a blessing after all.
Joy List Monday
a weekly ritual
a reminder to stop and pay attention to the little beauties and graces
that make life magical and to set aside time for gratitude each day
Blizzard .. well, at first this was not such a joy .. but the more I think about it ..
my boys are growing up, these special times with best friends and with our families mean so much to me. The blizzard did change our plans, it also gave us an extra day with friends.
Brownies .. a sweet dessert for our extra dinner with our guests.
Blankets .. cuddling with my husband watching a movie while the blizzard blew.
Hot Chocolate .. to warm our tummy after shoveling snow.
Games .. I enjoy playing games with family and friends.
You definitely made the best of the birthday fun. We always laugh that we are on plan b..or c...and on down the line. But having extra time with friends and family was perfect for making memories. Those boys will be gone to college and on their own before you know it! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteSometimes the unexpected is the best times. So happy the boys had a great birthday time with friends and you enjoyed the weekend too. This winter really needs to let go of all of us here in the midwest and we need so see Spring. Hopefully soon.

Sometimes it's a blessing in disguise. I'm sure you'll all remember this fondly one day! It sounds like it was cozy and nice!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it all turned out okay. God had different plans for you!
ReplyDeleteThat's great that the boys had fun after all! It's good to give thanks for simple blessings. Snow showers all day here but too warm to stick around!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the weekend turned out a blessing instead of a big disappointment. I guess, Mother Nature played a role in extending the birthday celebration one more day than was planned.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Julia
Another snow storm!! Sounds like the weekend turned out just right though. You're right about the boys growing up fast. I miss all the fun weekends and holidays when my children were small and now even my grandchildren are grown up and too busy with their own lives. It goes by way too fast.
ReplyDeleteWow, that snow. It does sound so lovely and cosy being under blankets with hot chocolates xx
ReplyDeleteBlankets and hot chocolate were part of our weekend as well. Sounds like a fun birthday. The boys will remember the Blizzard Birthday Party for years to come!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cozy way to celebrate! Spring will arrive eventually, and I know everyone enjoyed the celebration even though you had to change your plans due to the inclement weather.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like it all worked out well!! It sounds like a celebration they won't soon forget!!
ReplyDeleteYou made the best of a COZY birthday celebration! Sounds like one your boys will NEVER forget! So happy for you! Love the hot cocoa and blankets. PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it strange that sometimes the unexpected can bring the best of times.
ReplyDeleteNice to know your boys had a great birthday time with friends, and an extra night too! Can't be bad.
All the best Jan
