Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. Feb 2nd is Groundhog Day in the US of A. Tell us about one day you wouldn't mind living over again, and why you chose that day.
Oh, I have so many. I will decide on a recent day, 2020 Christmas with our family. My parents hosted Christmas at the farm. My mom, dad, sister, her husband and our family of four gathered. It was a fun filled time, with belly laughs, good food and more belly laughs. We laughed so hard we had tears running down our cheeks. It was a very special Christmas.
2. Something you know beyond a 'shadow of a doubt'?
It is Well with My Soul
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to know
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain
It is well, (it is well),
With my soul, (with my soul)
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.
My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life,
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.
But Lord, 'tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh, trump of the angel! Oh, voice of the Lord!
Blessed hope, blessed rest of my soul.
And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
A song in the night, oh my soul!
3. Give us an example of history repeating itself in some way, in your own life or the lives of your children.
Our son Sam is balancing work, college, time for family, friends and his girlfriend.
4. Snowed under, snow job, not a snowball's chance, snowbird, on thin
ice, snug as a bug in a rug, tip of the iceberg, snowball effect, run
hot and cold....choose a wintry idiom and tell us how it best applies to
your life right now.
Snug as a Bug in a Rug
that is what we will want to be as a cold forecast is on the way
NEGATIVE TEMPERATURES as our high temperatures..
oh goodness, this is when I do not enjoy winter.
5. Your favorite sign of spring?
Seedlings!
6. Insert your own random thought here.
"Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There is no courage unless you're scared."
Eddie Rickenbacker
Thoughtful answers Carla! Wonderful hymn to sing and think about. Yippee for those hopeful signs of Spring. Hope the rest of your week goes well!
ReplyDeleteStay snug as a bug! We're being promised cold weather again this weekend. I'll be snuggling down too. Seedlings look like they're doing well!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite hymns. We say our blood has thinned since moving south. Enjoy caring for your baby plants : )
ReplyDeleteI love that hymn! I cannot imagine high temp being a negative number. Here is Alabama we freak out when it stays in the 30's all day. We just don't have the clothing needed for those cold temps!! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful hymn! Sounds like it is totally freezing there!
ReplyDeleteI love your positive answers as usual. All is well with my soul also. A beautiful hymn. I can't wait till signs of spring starts growing. Spring will be here before we know it. I can't wait...
ReplyDeleteStay well and safe.
Hugs, Julia
I could relive the day we brought baby allison home, over and over and over.
ReplyDeleteSnowbound with yarn!
Something I know without a shadow of a doubt: I can't cookies. I can bake bread
Sign of spring: hearing the frog peeping
Love that song you share is it not a great feeling to know that we are loved by not only those here with us but also by a heavenly father thanks for sharing your answers come see us at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteI love that hymn! Especially the third verse - that gets me every time.
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming those aren't your seedlings from this year (since I don't see any snow in the background, and they seem too big for this early!) They remind me that I need to start my asparagus seeds if I want to get them in the ground in May!
Happy halfway-to-spring! :)
These are always fun. I love seeing your seedlings. We've finally got some snow but I'm ready for spring now. :)
ReplyDeleteSweet Hymn and thoughtful answers to the questions. Have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteToday we are getting more snow on top of the 11 inches already. Ugh! When will Spring get here?!!! xoxo
That's a great quote. I never really thought about it that way, but it's certainly true. And seedlings!! They make me feel optimistic while I'm walled by snow and a groundhog that said 6 more weeks of it. Ick...
ReplyDeleteI am going for Snug as a Bug also! We had quite the snow storm today, I'm guessing more than 5", but it's hard to tell for all the wind! And, with the cold temps coming... Book, blanket, hot cocoa, are all on my agenda for the next couple days!
ReplyDeleteLost my comment- grrrr..
ReplyDeleteLove that last saying. It is snowing so hard here it looks like fog outside. Not sure how much we are getting but it's a lot! ugh...I am OVER winter. xo Diana
That sounds like a great day to do over. I love your answer for #2. Sam is one busy man. I heard about your cold weather coming. I look forward to having a garden again, however our strawberries are still going crazy and took over the entire planter box. Love your random also. Have a nice weekend. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteCarla, thank you for typing out one of my favorite hymns. I felt it flood through my soul with joy as I sang the words. The author had gone through a very difficult time and yet he could still claim that it was well with his soul. That's a good example for us.
ReplyDeleteSeedlings already?! Wow! I so enjoy your "hodgepodge" posts! I'm glad you had a wonderful holiday. Stay safe and warm during the polar vortex!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla. I love that hymn! Just wanted to stop by and say hello and let you know I have been praying for your boys and their safety since you mentioned it a couple of weeks ago. Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteThat hymn has a wonderful history. Such a great message. xoxo
ReplyDeleteLooks like your seedlings are doing well.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
