Caterpillars and Butterflies

Three years ago, I planted several variety of milkweed. I wanted to create a Monarch Butterfly Garden. And I was in hopes to witness the entire cycle of the Monarch Butterfly in my garden.

This year it has happened.

Monarch butterflies visited and laid eggs.

The eggs hatched.

Caterpillars began to munch.

And another cycle of life was created.

Caterpillars happily munching.

My excitement grew as we had more caterpillars munching. And more butterflies flying from flower to flower in the garden.

Each morning and evening I take a peek to see what our little caterpillar neighbors are up too.

 Eating. Growing. Eating. Growing.

That seems to be the daily agenda.

God has given so many gifts. Watching the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly is a true gift.

I am so blessed my little garden has become a Home Sweet Home for these amazing butterflies.

  3. This is wonderful, Carla. To see the butterfly come to life from the caterpillar is so interesting and special. I can see why they would want to flutter about and land on the
beautiful flowers in your garden. It's so nice to see all the blessings in your corner
of the world, Carla. Have a relaxing weekend, and I hope you see some more butterflies!

  4. Ohhhhhhh! How delightful! For you, and for the butterflies!

    And for us!

    Because....

Our front flower garden has gone quite wild, as my husband can no longer do as much work in it. Wild flowers are fine with us. Except for the Queen Anne's Lace which, though we love it, has gone wild and taken over.

But!!!! He thought a wild milkweed had seeded itself!!!! I thought it was another flower.

Buttttt!!!! It looks like yours and he is right and it is Milkweed!!!!!!! Hooray!!!!!!!

    Yes, yes, yes!

Thank you so much for this post!!!!!

  12. So glad you are helping the monarchs out. I have a volunteer milkweed plant that I kept just for the monarchs. We have an island nearby in which they land during their Spring migration. The island is inhabited, so they are free to land where ever. Janice
