Hello Friends,
Many times sunflowers will lose petals before the rest of our bouquet flowers are spent.
Here is a fun tip to create a lovely late summer bouquet using your spent sunflowers.
Take off the petals that are falling off and those that are not to leave the big beautiful seed head.
Ta Da ~ You have a lovely late summer bouquet.
I enjoy using seeds heads to create bouquets. Other seeds heads that I find fun to use in bouquets are
bees balm, poppy heads and cone flowers.
And can you believe I said "late summer bouquet" goodness, summer is starting to say goodbye. I have noticed the change in light, some color in trees and late summer flowers are starting to bloom along the roadside.

Hi Carla, Beautiful bouquet and a great tip!🌻. I love Autumn.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will enjoy the weekend.
Your late summer bouquet is lovely. Thanks for the great tip. I bought some dwarft sunflower seed this spring and never planted them because I didn't had a place ready in the garden and then it got quite late. I don't know if the seeds will be still good next spring.
ReplyDeleteMy hydrangeas are already changing color so It feels like it may be an early fall, do you think?
Hugs, Julia
Lovely bouquet! And yes, late summer, unbelievable. Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSuper tip! I want to try this because I’m seeing lots of sunflowers at the farmers’ markets lately. Have a lovely weeekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove love love this bouquet. How pretty. I never thought of taking off the petals that looks so great. I know they are great to leave outside for birds too. Hope your little flower cabin is going well and people are enjoying picking up a bouquet from your sweet garden. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteI love to dry sunflowers and have a few drying in a bowl right now. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteCarla, I think the sunflower is so pretty in full bloom and even just the heads. I saw a field of them once during the hot Summer, and they were drooping in the heat, and they were still beautiful to me. I've noticed the change in light here too, Carla. It's funny that you mentioned that cause I just noticed it the other day. Your bouquet of sunflowers is so pretty, and I love that blue vase. They compliment each other. That first photo is truly lovely. : )

That's a great idea. I can't believe how time is passing us by. I'm certainly not ready to face the holiday's yet!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm noticing some color changes, too...exacerbated by the heat and lack of rain. We are getting some rain this weekend, but we're down 10 inches on the year. The light, gentle rain of yesterday and today is the best. Some towns nearby had heavy winds and rain, which can be more devastating. Enjoy the transitions!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla....Hope your weekend is going good. Such a great idea to keep the center of the sunflower as the petals begin to fall. Summer is passing so fast. My daughters have already started back to school and the kiddos will come on the 16th. Hugs to you
ReplyDeletegreat idea!
ReplyDeleteWhat a timely post! I just made a big bouquet of sunflowers, and yes, already there are a few petals dropping! Your bouquet is so unusual and eye-catching with the seed heads as a focal point.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful. Thanks for the tip. I will have to remember to do this. After all I call sunflowers my happy flower! Janice
ReplyDeleteYes, I too am sensing a "change"... And this is pulling me, in 2 directions. No, I don't want summer-being-able-to-be-outside-weather to leave. But I also love everything about Autumn...
ReplyDelete-sigh-
Which side to choose?
Perhaps each, in their own time. -smile-
Today... See only summer.
Tomorrow... See only coming autumn.
Delightful idea for flower arrangements. If only we could grow sunflowers!!!!!

The chipmunks gather up the sunflower seeds from the wild bird seed I throw on the ground for the rabbits, doves, and buntings they can no longer get to the hanging feeders, fortunately) and then plant the seeds in our flower pots. I pull the clump of sprouts and eat them because I don't think the sunflowers will grow well in a flower pot.
ReplyDeleteSunflowers are such a cheerful flower ...
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your tips.
All the best Jan
That is so pretty, I love your designs!
ReplyDeleteOne of my aster's is getting ready to bloom. That is always a sign for me that I will begin to see signs of the changing seasons.
I love this idea! Your floral designs are so pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh So very pretty!! Love your cobalt blue vase too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I never would have thought it would work. And that VASE! Love the color. Yes, autumn is knocking at the door. xoxo
