Northern Lights the night of September 16th 2024. |
Hello Friends, it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. Something that's had you 'chuffed to bits' recently?
Our garden harvest, flowers and fresh veggies. And the Northern Lights.
2. Tell us about an instance recently where you were tempted to 'throw a wobbly' (expression used to describe tantrums thrown, usually by adults or people who should know better)
Well... some current events have made me 'throw a wobbly'.
3. Something everyone seems to love but is not your 'cuppa tea'?
Flavored coffee... just give me a good dark coffee with a little cream.
4. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, roast beef with
Yorkshire pudding...which entree would you choose? Yes, you have to
choose.
Fish and Chips
5. Something you want for your birthday this year?
At a recent wedding for a friend.. our boys. |
What I want for my birthday this year, is to spend time with those two in the above photo.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My husband installed some new lighting in our greenhouse. I love it. With the nights creeping in earlier and earlier, the extra light helps me finish my garden chores. It is getting dark here at 7:30 pm already.. oh that is the hardest part for me.. saying goodby to all our spring/summer light.
Fish 'n chips, no time needed on that. Your boys look so handsome! Thankfully no tantrums lately. The lights look fantastic in your greenhouse. Shorter days :(
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of flavored coffee either. I hope your birthday wish comes true! How fabulous to see the Northern Lights. On my bucket list for sure. Have a nice day...thank you for the birthday wishes.
ReplyDeleteThe lights in your greenhouse are such a great idea! I have never seen anyone do this. It will be helpful for so many reasons! Your boys are so handsome! I love flavored coffee, Phil does not, he only likes plain. Your veggies are beautiful. But this doesn't surprise me, knowing you are an expert Gardner. Can they be grown year round in a greenhouse?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen the Northern lights. How awesome so see them. Wow, how wonderful your garden has been. The heat just ruined ours this year. Yep, your coffee sounds perfect. The boys look great! Hope you get to spend some time with them. That's wonderful about the lights in your greenhouse. Have a wonderful day. Debby
ReplyDeleteI am in total agreement on saying goodbye to the spring/summer light. My husband is a coffee drinker and he can't even stand to smell flavored coffee - he would agree with you!
ReplyDeleteGreat answers and I learned some lingo like the cool kids all know lol! I hope you get your wish to spend more time with the boys. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteThe earlier darkness has been upsetting me too! I love the lights in your greenhouse! It looks so pretty. The boys look so handsome in that photo. I hope you get your birthday wish! The garden spoils are incredible! No wonder your proper chuffed!
ReplyDeleteYour boys are so handsome. Hope you get your birthday wish!
ReplyDeleteI don’t do flavored coffees. I drink mine black and leaded!
Love a good fish and chips. I like the light shining out from your greenhouse! Apparently a couple of evenings ago, the Northern lights were seen. Our city took a photo of it. Of course, I miss it! Enjoyed your answers.
With you on the coffee. I have tried flavors in my coffee, but I'm certainly not a fan. Pure beauty in your harvest of veggies, and the flowers look so fresh and healthy. Carla...I sure hope you get your birthday wish...These guys are handsome and I'm guessing they will try their best to make your wish come true.
ReplyDeleteI miss the Northern lights - I'd be chuffed if I could see them again! My theory on flavored coffee is that it's way more about the smell than the taste. I think you have to sweeten flavored coffee before you can really taste the flavor and since I take my coffee with just cream . . . Anyway, have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have seen the Northern Lights. Seems like I keep missing them when we are able to here. UGH Always like reading your answers. So informative. Janice
ReplyDeleteFish and Chips for sure. How nice you got to see some of the northern lights. Your garden goodies look yummy. I'm not into flavored coffee either. It always smells good, but the taste doesn't come through. Tea on the other hand, flavored tea is usually nice; but I don't want that in the morning. I want it when I'm cold after being outside, or perhaps when I'm not feeling all that well. Hope you get your birthday wish.
ReplyDeleteThe flavored coffees always sound so yummy (and tempting) but always disappoint. Just stick with plain good coffee:) And fish and chips are always a winning choice!!:)
ReplyDeleteSo funny, I had to look up some of those phrases! Look at your handsome boys..time flies! I'm not a coffee drinker but the smell of some of those flavored numbers make me feel a little queasy. I'll stick to my hot water!! PS- love the new lights and yes, darker here, too. I don't love that!!
ReplyDeleteI am 100% with you on the flavored coffee. No pumpkin spice for me.
ReplyDeleteCarla, I always enjoy your hodgepodge posts. I am with you on the flavored coffee - just dark with a little cream for me, although every Fall I have to get a pumpkin spice coffee. Your garden veggies are amazing. How wonderful they are for soups and stews and just eating plain. I've known you for a long time when your sons were young boys, and I understand wanting to spend time with these fine men you have raised. The new lighting in your greenhouse is so pretty. Happy Birthday to you, dear Carla.

I enjoyed your answers though I do enjoy flavored coffee, though at home I don't add flavor.
ReplyDeleteI'm one hundred percent with you on the coffee! Make mine, hot, fresh, no funny flavors, no sugar ... just heavy cream! But I do pre-heat and froth that cream, haha! Pirate fashion. xoxo
