Getting Started

The Flower Shack

Hello Friends, today we are going to spark some conversation. The question..

"The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Mark Twain

Do you agree or disagree?

Do you have examples from your own life?

I agree.

In 2012 I started my fresh cut flower stand in our front yard. It was a simple card table, with bouquets of flowers. I was getting started. Fast forward to 2016, my husband and boys built me a flower shack, an enclosed structure that was much better for my bouquets and I started to sell other items as well. Fast forward to 2017, I started to give classes on flower arranging.  Today I continue to have my flower shack, I create bouquets for friends and family. I also give classes on flower arranging. I do not think any of this would have happened if I did not try.

I do agree. "The secret of getting ahead is getting started."

  1. I love that you started your little flower shack small and then it grew bigger. I know the people that live near you love coming by your little flower shack for your beautiful flowers. I wish I lived closer to come by and get some beautiful flowers. Hugs. Kris

  2. I agree one hundred percent. One of my best friends was trying to encourage me with the overwhelming job of cleaning out my mother's house so we can sell it, and she said, "Remember that when you have to eat an elephant, you eat it one bite at a time." I would love to take your flower arranging class. It has been fun to see how you've progressed with your business. :D

  3. Lovely shack! I love that you started a flower business and reading about how it's grown. I agree with the statement. Mindset is also important. I remember running cross country in high school. I thought getting in shape to run two miles was an incredible amount of work. When I decided to train for a marathon, of course, I had to train for much more than two miles! The idea of "just" running two miles- the distance that seemed daunting in high school- was a warm up distance for me when running long distances. My perspective changed as my goals changed!

  4. Yes, I do agree. We can't really get ahead unless we get started.....whether it's a project or a chore, etc. I love your flower shack, Carla. And those purple and green pots are delightful. The flower shack looks really sturdy too. I hope it gives you many days of pleasure this month of June, Carla.

  10. Gosh Carla has it been that long since you started your flower stand? Where has the time gone? I remember when you first started and I do love the little shack the men in your life made for you. It is so sweet and I hope sales are the best ever this year. I do agree with the saying too....Janice
