Hello Friends, it is Friday and it is time to hit the road. Today we are going to visit the shores of the Chippewa River and Red Cedar River.
The Chippewa and Red Cedar rivers meet south of Menomonie, near the Dunnville State Wildlife Area in Dunn County, Wisconsin.
The confluence is a significant natural and recreational area, where the Red Cedar River flows into the Chippewa River. It is accessible via the Chippewa River State Trail and Red Cedar State Trail.
Do you spy Ernie? He is looking back at the boys. Both Sam and Atticus joined us on this adventure. It was a fun day of rock picking, looking for clams and enjoying the river.
We continue to find little trinkets left behind on our hikes.
Here is a shrine to Busch Light.
You never know what you might find or see when you get out and about in Wisconsin.

I do not like seeing empty cans anywhere outside. I once saw a skunk with its head in one. I had to call the DNR to help assist freeing it. You sure do live in a wonderful part of Wisconsin. We also have a Chippewa River here in Michigan which is a tributary of the Tittabawassee River in Mid Michigan. We have many rivers here with native American names. Janice
ReplyDeleteHi, I hear ya about empty cans and bottles. I saw a bear with a bucket on his head. I too do not like all the trash along our rivers and woods. Sadly, these trinkets will become trash too.
DeleteThis was a full unopened can of beer we found.
You have the best trails in Wisconsin. I love the little trinkets you find along your walks. Happy Friday. Have a great weekend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteWonderful day by the river, do you ever fish there? How lovely to have this close by.
ReplyDeleteWe do fish the rivers. I grew up on the Elk River and I would fish just about everyday in the summer.
DeleteLooks like a lovely day trip and glad the boys joined you. Beautiful pictures. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, dear Carla ❤️
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this place. i would love to explore it. Do you take the treasures, or leave them there?
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see those little oddities. Not sure about the beer can though! lol Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week my friend.
ReplyDeleteNice pictures! Don´t the lyrics to the Wreck of the Edmund F reference the Chippewa River? I´d never heard of the river until really listening to the lyrics of that song.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to visit and a great day out!
ReplyDeleteThat does look and sound a very enjoyable day trip, especially as the boys joined you.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photographs.
Good wishes for a happy and peaceful weekend.
All the best Jan
These are pretty photos of the river, Carla. And a special day you had with your sons. Yes, I see Ernie in the pic! I like the little trinkets that are left behind. What a delightful thing to do. I'm wondering what the words say on this pink bracelet?
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving week to you, Carla.

Looks beautiful in this area. Glad you had this special time to spend with your sons...making sweet memories. Isn't it funny the things that people leave behind. Have a good Thanksgiving week Carla.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be enjoying such a lovely hike with your boys - and it is true, you just never know what you might find while out and about!!! Our neighbor paints rocks and leaves them wherever she goes. That's a fun endeavor I think! Blessings to you dear friend!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely place to explore.
ReplyDeleteAre the trinkets left intentionally for people to find, do you think? Like in geocaching?
You always find the neatest trinkets on your hikes!! They must make you laugh!!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you keep finding trinkets. Do you ever leave any of your own? Hi Ernie!!
