| Spring in Wisconsin! |
Hello Spring
and
it is the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. It's officially spring in the northern hemisphere. Does it feel like spring in your part of the world? If you're in the southern hemisphere it's officially autumn where you live. Does the weather say autumn? Which do you prefer-spring or autumn? Why?
It is feeling like spring in Wisconsin. The snow is melting. The ground is thawing. The robins, red winged blackbird and sandhill cranes have arrived for the spring/summer season. Maple syrup is being made. Buds are popping on the trees.
I prefer spring. The warm sun on my face and new growth makes my heart sing.
2. What's your favorite thing about spring?
Spring is when you feel like whistling, even with a shoe full of slush.
— Doug Larson
I love getting back out into the garden.
3. Spring into action, spring in your step, spring to life, spring to one's feet...which spring idiom currently applies to your life in some way? Explain.
Spring in my step ... I am starting seeds and planning our 2026 garden.
4. Which spring food from this list is your favorite? What's a dish you like that includes your favorite spring ingredient?
asparagus, strawberries, salad greens like mesclun, artichokes, spinach, eggs, peas, spring onions
I love asparagus.
I am looking forward to making Asparagus Tart.
5. What's one task on your spring cleaning list? Do you actually have a list?
Cleaning the yard and gardens. After all our winter storms we have tree branches, pine cones, twigs and more to clean up. I will start to clean my garden beds. We will clean the deck and set up the outdoor furniture.
Yes, we have a checklist of the chores that need doing.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Some of our outdoor furniture is cleaned and set up. And I brought out a few of my potted plants I winter over in the garage. They are happy to feel the sun.

That spring snow was always tough for me when we lived in the northeast. Spring is a tease and doesn't seem to barrel in. It comes and goes before it finally decides to stay. Your asparagus tart looks good. I love roasted asparagus and am sure I'd like this too. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI figured you would love springtime :). Love that spring is coming to Wisconsin. You guys deserve some beautiful weather and all the blooms!! The tart looks good even though I'm not a huge asparagus fan. Happy planting!
ReplyDeleteI think you posted a photo of that asparagus tart last year, didn't you? Yum! Since I live in the deep south, it is so funny to see snow on the ground (in your photos) along with trees budding! I know it is normal for you, but since I've never lived anywhere else . . .I love hearing about the climate in other places!
ReplyDeleteStill waiting for Spring to arrive here, but am told we could have some sever weather coming in tomorrow. UGH. Cannot wait for strawberries and rhubarb. Having asparagus tonight for dinner. YUM Janice
ReplyDeleteHa Ha Carla the quote you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush! That about sums it up for us in the midwest for spring lol! The asparagus looks so yummy. Have a great week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Carla. I love your enthusiasm for your garden. That asparagus tart looks amazing. It is such a joyful season and I'm happy to sense the joy in your answers today. Happy spring!
ReplyDeleteThe energy of Spring! I love it, although it's felt like summer - I do think we finally have a little rainstorm brewing for the last day of March. Strawberries, fresh herbs, peas are the first things that come to mind.
ReplyDeleteSounds like spring is a busy time for you Carla. I'm glad the snow is melting.
ReplyDeleteYour asparagus tart looks so good, Carla. I love asparagus too, but it's so expensive at the stores, so I don't buy it often. I'm glad spring has arrived around your neck of the woods. Sounds like you are working so hard in the yard lately. Your pictures always make my heart smile with the snow and the pines and the lake. And that first trail photo is beautiful. I saw my first Robin this week too! ; )
ReplyDeleteDear Carla, I love asparagus! Your asparagus tart looks delicious! Your photos are lovely!
ReplyDeleteYay Carla...I am happy to see that you all are seeing strong signs of Spring. Your plans for the garden sounds amazing..all that freshness and what makes it better is when you know you grew the foods yourself. I think we have skipped straight into Summer. It has been pretty warm here. The asparagus tart looks so good.
ReplyDeleteI bet you are overjoyed that spring is here, and looking forward to being in the garden so much.
ReplyDeleteLast comment was me, Ginny. Yet again, it has made me anonymous!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your Spring has started to arrive. Interesting quote about Spring. Mark is working on our garden plans also. That tart looks delicious. Hope the clean up outside goes well for you. I like your random thought. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteAsparagus ... soooooo yummy. We had them awhile back from a local farm and I ate the entire stalks. Sooooo sooooo good. Expensive, but sooooooo good. Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteThat is good that the snow is finally melting. I love getting back out into the garden too. That asparagus tart looks so tasty!
ReplyDeleteWe have very similar interests. :) My mind is now focused on the garden, and it will be until sometime in late October. LOL.
ReplyDeleteYour asparagus tart look really good. It must be special to see spring after a snowy winter. We will be in the 90s again and I don’t like it. Too warm to be outside and enjoy the new growth.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy seeing the snow melting away and the new spring colors and flowers starting to pop up in its place. We don't have snow here in Florida, but I've lived up north plenty to know what spring is like and how much you look forward to it after a long, cold, snowy winter. We are doing our own yard clean up and spring planting, etc. I wish we had some rain to help out, but I'm sure it will come soon. Your snow helps replenish the earth with much needed moisture for the spring and summer growth. We really could've used some of that.. Too bad the snow removal trucks couldn't have brought some down here! LOL. I hope you enjoy your springtime. The asparagus tart looks good. I love asparagus, but never would've thought of making a tart with it. Very interesting!
ReplyDeleteWe are still stuck in that in between seasons stage, where it's warm one day and downright cold the next. I'm a fan of the warm days! I have a long list of spring projects, but ironically most of them are indoors. I guess that means outdoors I'll just have one chore...to enjoy myself! Wink wink!! xo
ReplyDeleteYum! I like asparagus too!
ReplyDeleteSpring is here, one of my favourite seasons ... however the weather is still quite mixed.
Sunshine, rain, hailstones and for some snow ... haven't had any fog though LOL
Enjoy these last few days of March.
All the best Jan
It feels so good to enjoy the springtime weather, and bring out the plants that have been hibernating all winter! Asparagus tart sounds marvelous! I have started seeds in the greenhouse, and slowly getting my garden ready for planting. No hurry, since we won't plant here until June... Spring blessings to you dear friend! So happy you are getting spring weather too!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the warmer days we get to have but then it goes back to COLD and windy! A few more weeks and we should have more consistently warm days. I'm excited to see my bulbs popping up that I planted in the fall!!
