Thank You

Hello Friends,

I am writing this on Friday, to post for Monday. We are bracing for a blizzard.

snow + high winds = danger

During my morning walk with Ernie I was doing a mental checklist of what we need to do to get ready for the storm.

jugs of water

batteries charged

phones charged

check with family

Then I started to thank all of those men and women who are at the ready in this weather.

Our linemen, who keep the power on. We already have some areas without power because of the high winds.

Our snow plow drivers, keeping our roads clear.

Police who will come to your aid no matter the weather.

Then I started to think about all the farmers as they prepare for the storm. Taking extra steps to be sure the animals they care for will have what they need to endure the storm.

Extra feed, shelter, water and more.

When I look at the big ugly world it can look really dark and ugly, all the fighting and hate.

When I start to come in closer to my community, my neighborhood, my friends and family, it all looks a lot more like love.

As I rounded the corner to head for home, I saw our neighbor finished cleaning the end of our driveway from the snow we received last night. It was too heavy for me to clear, I was waiting for my husband to clear it when he returned home from work.

Go. Be. Love.

 ♥

Carla

  1. OH, I hope you are safe and sound and warm and cozy in your home. I pray that you didn't lose power and that everyone is snug as a bug in a rug. I didn't see your post until now, but I will be praying for you until we hear from you! May the Lord be with you and yours, and keep you safe. Amen.

  3. I hope the blizzard is less than a blizzard. We are driving home in storms today and I'm not looking forward to that. We're leaving later than planned in hopes of letting much of it pass by. Stay safe and warm!

  6. Your words are very special on here today, Carla. And you're right, when we live in snow country and cooooold temperatures, we tend to appreciate these workers all the more. I always recognize those snow plow drivers who clear the roads so we can get through. And the electrical workers who get our power back on. You are so smart to have a check list of things to do during a storm. So good of your neighbor to clear your driveway. I hope your power stays on through this blizzard. That snow photo is delightful, by the way. Take care, dear Carla.

  14. Hope the blizzard is not as bad as predicted.
We were under tornado watch in my neck of the woods today and received all kinds of severe weather alerts telling us to make sure our cars were not parked near trees, make sure anything mobile on our balconies and patios were secured or taken indoor, and power outages were expected. Fortunately, all we got were two brief but heavy and windy rain storms.

  15. We had those awful high winds here on Thursday, and then a snowstorm followed. You are right, the winds really make things difficult with power outages. Praying you get to keep your power. So thankful for community, agreed, much better to keep our eyes closer to home while we pray. What a wonderful neighbor! Stay safe dear friend!

  16. We had more high winds over night, however 3 hours to the North of us had the blizzard with 35 inches of snow. Folks up there all lost power. I feel so bad for everyone affected by this latest storm. Janice
