Badlands, South Dakota
Hello Friends,
It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. April 22nd is Earth Day...what's the most 'out of this world' place on earth you've ever visited? Tell us something about it.
We visited the Badlands in South Dakota. In my opinion it is 'out of this world' with unique beauty.
I found a flower growing.
The colors are always changing in the landscape.
They call it the land of stone and light.
2. A favorite quote, verse, or song lyric with the word earth in it?
"The earth laughs in flowers."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
3. What's the most trivial thing about which you have a strong opinion?
I do not like when one mixes our coffee roasts. Ha!
We purchase different roasts of coffee. I like to just have the french roast be the french roast. There is someone else in this house that will mix the french roast with the dark roast and other roasts. He makes up his own roast I guess.
Ha!
4. What's your most commonly used kitchen utensil or tool? What's the last thing you made using that tool?
The strainer. I use a strainer just about everyday.
I strained tuna to make a tuna sandwich for lunch.
5. Marilyn (Memphis Bridges) gave me a great book of 3000 questions, and I'm going to try to use one in our Hodgepodge every week. Here is today's -
What is your greatest extravagance?
Plants!!
Seeds!!
Gardening gear!!
6. Insert your own random thought here.

I would like to go to the Badlands someday! Great pictures and I love that you found a flower! It's almost GO time for the garden!! We generally wait until about Mother's Day to plant (though I have a few things in the ground that are cold tolerant). Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great trip. I usually wait until Mother's Day to plant and get my flowers too. We are in the 80;s the next few days but it will drop back to the low 60's next week. If I knew the temps would stay up there I would love to get going early with flowers. Patience I guess lol! Have a good week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteHaha! It would be fun to see your extravagant garden. Yep, we both chose Badlands. It truly was an out of this world experience. Don't mess with my coffee...please. :) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty flower! Wow.I bet your garden is amazing! I've never been to the Bad Lands or up that way.
ReplyDeleteI like one roast as well, lol. The Badlands looks otherworldly. Biggest extravagance is definitely half an avocado with my breakfast egg & toast. Hopefully my avocado tree will provide fruit soon.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to the Badlands, but they definitely look out of this world. I would love to see your flowers in person! The photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIs this a Dahia? It is gorgeous. Thankfully we use a Keurig with K-cups so don't have to worry about coffee mix-ups. the Badlands truly look like another planet!!
ReplyDeleteNot much coffee mixing over here but that coffee and its cookie friend look like a perfect treat!! I love that flower blooming right in the middle of all that brown!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos. I am more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker, but when I go out for breakfast, I always have coffee.
ReplyDeleteOh, this was fun, as always! Mixing coffee grounds...hmmm...I mean it happens when we switch out to a new brand, but I've honestly become more picky about simply wanting 100% Colombian coffee. Something about the flavor seems just right. Re: The Badlands, yes, I agree. They are other-worldly and stunning!
ReplyDeleteAs for the coffee. I am completely on your side! Mixing a French roast with other beans is a bold move. A French roast has such a specific, smoky profile that it deserves to stand on its own without being turned into a "house blend" by a rogue barista in the kitchen
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your random thought! And yes, I have driven through the Badlands a couple of times and they are stunning!
