Prickly Pear

Our 2012 Road Trip took us to Texas! We went in March to visit my aunt and uncle. I loved the prickly pears my aunt had in pots around her home. She told me I could take some home, plant them and yes, I would have a prickly pear!
At home in Wisconsin, I planted my prickly pear babies.

The babies are growing!

Getting bigger!

A surprise!

A beautiful bloom!

  1. Wow...are the spines on them jag-gy? They are cute little things and the flower is so pretty. And to bloom when they are so little. It must be fun to watch. Wonderfull photos!

  2. Oh my goodness!! How exciting! :-) when our kids were little, we visited a cactus farm in Florida. They picked up odds and ends from the ground and brought them back to plant. They grew, and now I'm wondering whatever happened to them. It may be that I summered them over outdoors and they got too much rain. Don't you love seeing that new growth!
