Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Cream together butter, oil and sugars.
Add eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth.
Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Blend well.
Refrigerate dough for at least 30 minutes.
Roll teaspoons of dough into balls, then roll into granulated sugar.
(or fun sprinkles like my son Atticus did.)
Flatten cookie just a bit with fork.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350°for 10 to 12 minutes.
Leave cookies on cookie sheet for 2 minutes after taking out of the oven.
Enjoy!
I love the cookies with cream of tartar in them. They absolutely melt in your mouth! These look delicious. Love the little sprinkles. Reminds me of Tommy Lee Jones and 'The Fugitive.' (OLD movie) :-)
ReplyDeleteOh yum!!! I really love sugar cookies but don't make them often enough. I'll have to change that :)
ReplyDeleteThose look really good Carla. I will have to make some.
ReplyDeleteYum! Maybe I can bake some this weekend. Love baking in cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.....Earlene
They look great. Now you've got me craving sugar cookies. We usually cut out sugar cookies. Didn't think to just make them round. That would save a lot of work.
