The Word is, it is a GrOwInG Up HoDgEpOdGe

It is Wednesday, it is time for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

 1. Share a favorite memory/moment from the week of Christmas.
Playing games with family and friends. We love to play games. Pictionary is one of my favorites. We laugh and tease. It makes for a special time.

2.  If someone wrote a book about your life based on the past year, what genre would it fall under? What would the title be?
 It would be a Memior.
  Her Boys are Growing Up

 3. What made you feel patriotic this year?

I have been following the Honor Flight. I love listening to the stories of the Veterans who have taken the flight. I am going to ask my friend Marv (aka my Garden Mentor) for permission to honor him. He served in the Korean War. His stories are full of everything that war is. Our boys love him and are in awe when he shares his stories from the war, which is not very often.
Click on the link below for more information regarding the Honor Flight.

4. What experience from this past year would you like to do all over again?

Our garden season. I would do it all over again. It was fun and plentiful.
We had rain when we needed rain. We had humid days when we needed humid days.
It was a great summer for gardening.

 5. What song lyric sums up or is a reflection of your 2015?

Lavender's Blue Dilly Dilly
This was a song I would sing to my boys when they were little.
I still hum it to them.

 6. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate 2015?  (10=stellar) Why?

2015 was a good year for us. We have grown as a family with the changes of having teen aged boys. Our oldest son is learning to drive.  Learning to let go as a mom and letting her boys go out into this big world.

We had a major house project completed. You may remember our East basement wall caved in and out. GULP!
We had a great mason lead the project and we have a house that did not fall down.

We also had our share of sadness. A dear family friend pass away this Autumn of 2015.
We also lost our cat Mr. B.

7. What part of the upcoming year are you most excited about?
I am excited for my boys to continue to GrOw Up. I am excited to see where God will lead them.

I have a dream I am going to continue to work on in 2016.
It has to do with flowers....I will keep you posted.

8. Insert your own random thought here.

 Good Bye 2015

  1. That corn is awesome! I planted corn one year and it was overrun with earwigs...of course it was only a small 4x2 plot of corn :-) Sounds like a wonderful 2015 for you!

  2. It's been a good year. I haven't thought about putting it into words though or rating the year. I'm going to think about that! Your boys are growing up fast. But you can be sure that God will lead them and you'll always be glad you raised them right. Happy New year! Hugs, Diane (we got our 50th hike in this week! It was 85 degrees of all things but we did it!)

  3. Carla, this is a wonderful post! And I love that header. Just beautiful!! And now you have the winter to look through seed catalogs and plan your garden for 2016. Wont' it be fun! Can't wait to hear about your trek to the Cities. Many blessings, - Judy

  4. It is such a joy to visit here Carla. It's great fun to watch your sons grow and follow the adventures you guys share. I am eagerly awaiting your "surprise" with flowers for 2016. All the best to you guys in the new year. xo

  5. I love Pictionary but haven't played in years. I've been feeling the same way about my daughter and son growing up. If we lived close I think I'd love hanging out with you :) Happy New Year my blog friend!

  6. Family growing up is always a challenge but you seem to be rising to it really well. Happy New Year.

  7. Oh...growing up. Yes, it is full of challenges for the whole family. I have one going off to college in the fall and I am weepy already.

  8. We never got around to playing games but I always enjoy it when we do.
That is some very tall corn. Enjoyed your photos and reading your answers.
    Happy New Year!

  9. Watching your boys grow up and gain their independence is very bitter sweet!

    1. A good year indeed Carla. Best wishes to you and yours for a Happy New Year...:)

  10. Awww, this is a bittersweet post. Your words really resonate with me - about your boys growing up - and looking forward to seeing where God leads them. My girls are 11 and 7 but I see them growing, getting taller, gaining more confidence to leave my little safe nest and get out there and do new, amazing things. I'm proud of my girls, as you are your boys. Bring on 2016, the best is yet to come! Sounds like you had an amazing 2015!

  11. I've enjoyed visiting your blog and see how hard you work to bring up your two boys with lots of outdoors activities and educational outing and family time together to make them the nice young men they are turning out to be.

Wishing you God's Choicest Blessings for 2016.

  12. My daughter asked for a game called Ticket to Ride and we all loved it. It's basically competing for train routes which doesn't sound that exciting, but it's good! Lots of strategy, not as complex as Settlers of Catan. I bet your boys would like it too. Happy new year to you and your family!

  13. Is it strange I have never played Pictionary? I do feel like I have been missing out!
I am excited for you to honor Marv. You are always an inspiration in what you do and sharing your love and positive way of living!

  14. Can't wait to hear about the flower project!

  15. I'm excited for your new year project! It was great following along with you in 2015! Happy New Year, my friend!
