Merry Christmas Hodgepodge, it is Wednesday, time for the fun of the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. What's your biggest 'first world' problem?
Our new kitten likes to chew power cords! He chewed my phone charger right in half!
2. Each year Time Magazine
names a 'Person of the Year', someone who has 'for better or
worse...done the most to influence the events of the year.' It was
recently announced they've named Angela Merkel Person of the Year for
2015. You can read more about this year's selection here. Your thoughts? If you were in charge, who would you declare Person of the Year?
I do not know a lot about Angela Merkel. I am not able to give my opinion. What I read from the link, she seems to be trying to help our world. I give her credit.
If I was in charge, who would I declare Person of the Year?
I would pick Trooper Casper. Please read the story here. A Wisconsin State Trooper who died in line of duty to keep Wisconsin citizens safe. I would add to that all the men and women who keep us safe each and every day and we do not even know in all the ways that they do.
3. Do you have a nativity set in your home? If so share it's history and how you display the pieces.
Yes, we have three.
My favorite was a gift from my sister, my Willow Tree Nativity.
4. Do you make an extra effort to give back in some way during the
holiday season? How do you encourage those who need encouragement this
time of year?
We participate in Operation Christmas Child. Click here for more information.
Each year the boys add a letter to our boxes. One year we were blessed to receive a letter back from the child who received one of our boxes.
We also Ring, Ring the bell for the Salvation Army. This will be our third year doing this, it has become a fun family time.
5. Who is your favorite person to shop for? Why?
I love to shop for my two boys. I just love to see the surprise and joy when they open a gift.
6. What's the last delicious thing you ate?
This amazing cupcake!
7. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is________________.
Be kind!
We were at a store a few days ago, the poor check out guy was having a day! Taking time to give him a smile and laugh. I also helped him bag my items.
Be kind!

This is a great post Carla. I especially agree with the idea of celebrating the people who do their jobs, unlauded, day after day, including those who keep us safe. That cupcake looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove that Grinch! Really made me smile this morning!
ReplyDeleteI love shopping for my kids...still so much fun!! :)
ReplyDeleteWe pray for our law enforcement regularly. Their job is a difficult one and it seems like it is becoming more and more dangerous each day.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your snow angel. It has been unusually warm here, in the 60s. I took out my Bermuda shorts and flip flops :) I'm waiting for snow although none is in the forecast anytime soon. Merry Christmas Carla!
Have mercy, that cupcake looks delicious! Wishing you a very Merry Christmas, Carla!
ReplyDeleteYou had to remind me about those cupcakes, didn't you? You probably made that check out guy's day!
ReplyDeleteI love your snow angel picture! I remember making them. And, I love Operation Christmas Child too. What a wonderful thing to do for thousands of children around the world! A box of simple toys and hygiene items, etc. becomes such a joy! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love snow angels, a favorite of mine! I have a few ornaments with someone doing a snow angel on them. I love my Willow Tree nativity. Operation Christmas Child is so awesome.
ReplyDeleteOh that cupcake looks delicious! Some great answers especially about being kind at this time of year. I was just leaving a store today when I was approached to do a customer survey. Most of us I'm sure would rather not do these, we just want to be on our way. But I wasn't in any rush so I agreed. I could tell that the guy was really happy to have a positive response.
ReplyDeleteI love the snow angel photo! And the cupcake looks scrumptious. I enjoyed your Hodgepodge Q&A, especially Nos. 2 and 4. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty cupcake! And I love the snow angel photo too. It's almost 70 degrees here today, which is a little crazy : ) Merry Christmas to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteBe kind....I like that. I try to have even more patience in all the stores and at the post office. And I always thank the clerks. Time for Christmas cheer and kindness. Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteA little bit more, indeed. Great answers, Carla :)

Carla, this Dr. Seuss quote is one of my favorites, and I was just thinking about it lately. I really like your answer to spreading Christmas cheer.....be kind. That always makes everything right, doesn't it? You have three nativity sets, wow? I bought one a long time ago and the pieces are large, and it's the most beautiful one I've ever seen with jewels and pretty fabric for the three wise men. I'm glad you still love to shop for your boys. My son is older, and he doesn't ask for much, so it's harder to think of gifts for him.
ReplyDeleteMay your Christmas season be merry and bright, Carla. That cupcake looks so yummy.

You always have great answers. So sorry about your phone charger. That kitten will get a piece of coal in his stocking for Christmas. Naughty kitty...

ReplyDeleteLove this post Carla and agree Christmas is about sharing the simplest of things like kindness. You don't have to buy that just share it from your heart. Win win for everyone. Have a wonderful day.

"Be Kind". So important. So hard to remember sometimes, depending on the situation, but so important to remember.
