Welcome to On the Road Friday.
Although it is cold and snowy here in Wisconsin, we are going to travel back to the splendor of Wisconsin in autumn.
Put on your hiking boots, we are headed to Big Bay State Park.
Big Bay State Park is on Madeline Island, the largest
of Lake Superior's 22 Apostle Islands. The 2,350-acre park has a
1.5-mile beach, campground with drinking water, showers and toilets, an
outdoor group camp, picnic areas and more than seven miles of hiking and
nature trails with incredible views of Lake Superior.
During our sister's weekend, my sister and I hiked in Big Bay State Park.
We loved the hiking trails. The beauty of Lake Superior is all around you.
Point Trail takes you along the lake. It is a great trail to hike for photo opportunities.
On one side of the trail you look at Lake Superior and on the other side you look out to see woods.
On the way back to the parking lot, we took a woods trial. The Autumn color was lovely.
Thank you for coming along today, on the first, On the Road Friday of 2016!
I always love going on your adventures! Taking a trip for your camera lens in a place I might not normally get to see, much appreciated and always brings a smile to my face!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, wonderful photos, Carla. I love it up there, and I love it that you included the Wisconsin map. Especially great for those who think 'Westconsin' is somewhere just off the edge of the globe. Lol. Sounds like a great time with your sis.
ReplyDeletePicture number six especially takes my breath away...looking out over the broad expanse of water. All the pictures are great. That is such a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos! What a beautiful place for your sisters weekend!
ReplyDeleteNice to take a step back to autumn and see all this beauty!
ReplyDeleteHappy, Happy New Year!
xo,
Lin
You are one adventurous girl and I love tagging along! Even though it's chilly here today that water still looks dreamy and I'd like to stick my toe in it!! :)
ReplyDeleteCarla, what a wonderful adventure! Your photos are beautiful and are making me long for fall again!! But I want some snow first!! :-) Hugs!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I sure would like some fall hiking weather about now. I've only been to Lake Superior once, just briefly. Would like to explore it more after seeing your photos, especially the rocky shoreline.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo's, Carla! The water is so clear, that is amazing. I love the colors that you captured in the trees.
ReplyDeleteWhat awesome beauty Lake Superior provides. Have not been in years, but Lake Huron is near us and I often visit that mighty lake. Janice
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place to walk the trail. Having a sister to talk to while walking makes the time go by fast. This must have been in the Fall. We have snow on the ground here.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Carla.
Hugs,
JB
The photos are so beautiful, and it looks like there is "gold" in the water. I love the one with the ramp down to the water.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Wow, that looks like such a beautiful place to visit. It's nice that you can take a ferry to get there - that sounds very convenient.
ReplyDeleteHi Carla,
ReplyDeleteWow, so, so pretty!! I loved looking at all of your photos, and what a beautiful place Madeline Island is beautiful!
We had a few inches of snow today...and I am ready for Spring already! ;)
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!
Hugs, Kimberley
Lake Superior! One of our favorite places in the world. We were just talking today and as soon as John has his last treatment we want to head to Lake Superior--which should be towards he end of March. GREAT pictures!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical place! I'll have to add it to my list of places to visit. We've been on a bit of a traveling hiatus, but I'm hoping that soon we'll be able to take a few trips again. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWe had a great visit to the island and park 2 summers ago. Unfortunately our tour bus mistakenly back over a culvert which collapsed and got us stuck. It was a Sunday and took several hours for help in the form of a two truck arrived to "rescue" us...:)
DeleteThis is just my kind of place, Carla. Your pictures of Lake Superior are awesome! You should see our lake, it's the lowest I've ever seen it. We've had rains since I last visited, so I hope it's filled up. Love this picture of the shoes....what a great place to take a hike.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week ahead, Carla.

It looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous park! Your photos are so pretty. I'm surprised there's no snow! Can you believe that we had snow flurries in Central Alabama yesterday!?!?
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty place to enjoy with your sis. My niece, who is 40, loves to hike and is in the process of adopting a suitable dog to accompany her on hikes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place to spend the day!!! Such pretty pictures Carla! My kids are praying for snow! We have a slim chance here on Sunday.
