Welcome June
It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. Tell us about one fun thing on your June calendar.
A canoe outing with my family.
2. How careful are you in the sun? Do you tan or burn? Do you make it a point to see the dermatologist every year?
In the past two years I have started to be much more careful in the sun. I use to not care and I can see now the harm I did to my skin. I tan very easy and I can get very dark in the summer. My nose is what I did not care well enough for. I was a lifeguard for three summers in my college years.
At this time, no I do not see a dermatologist.
3. Describe a time when you wanted to 'throw in the towel'?
Teaching Sunday School...Sometimes I just do not feel like I know how to connect with the kids or if I even know what I am doing. We are on summer break and I am praying about next season.
4. What's a song you love that has a day of the week in the title or lyrics?
I grew up in the 80's ... another middle school song.
The Bangles ~ Manic Monday
5. Are you a fan of berries? Which one's your favorite? What's the most
recent berry dish you've eaten? Which blueberry breakfast food appeals
to you most-blueberry pancakes, blueberry yogurt, or a blueberry
muffin?
I love berries and my family loves berries.
Strawberry season is a favorite for us. We have a local pick your own strawberry farm that we go to every year. My favorite berries are strawberries and blackberries.
I have not eaten a berry dish lately. In a few weeks it will be strawberry shortcake with fresh Wisconsin strawberries.
I love blueberry yogurt and blueberry muffins.
6. What's something you want to do before your next birthday?
My birthday is December 12th.
I would like to have made the best of this year, spending time with my family, friends and making this world a better place with what I can offer.
7. June 1st is National Say Something Nice Day, so let's all say something nice here.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
In the last week we have received over 5 inches of rain!
Everything is lovely green and growing.
Rain on the Deck
We got tons of rain too and now everything is so lush and green. I like reading these little hodgepodges about you! I can't believe it's June 1st!
ReplyDeleteWe have a prom and a graduation on the calendar in June!! I am excited for both and I absolutely love reading your blog. Enjoy Say Something Nice Day! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your lego man :) Your strawberries look delicious. Manic Monday is one of my middle school songs too, nothing like the 80s! I am glad you had rain and I'm sure your garden is off to a great start. Have a great rest of the week :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any strawberry shortcake yet this year, but I definitely plan to. It's one of my favorite desserts. Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteYay for berries and canoeing all summer long - gardening too and maybe not a full on tan but a summer glow! Have a great day my friend!
ReplyDeleteSeveral others listed the Manic Monday song. I have never heard of it before. Our son was a lifeguard for several years. Hopefully, he won't suffer any ill effects from all the sun. It's crazy rain here in Texas, too.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... the rain! 3.5 inches just yesterday!
ReplyDeleteLOVED The Bangles. I keep remember watching their video's back when there were real music videos on MTV. This all back when my grandparents had the HUGE satellite dish. Remember those?
We haven't gotten any rain and really need it. But when I started my walk tonight, I saw a rainbow. So of course I walked back inside and grabbed the camera! lol Enjoy your week and your fresh berries! Hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteThese Hodgepodge posts are fun! We get to learn a little more about you each time. I'm looking forward to berry season, too. Wisconsin has a wealth of fresh berries available just about anywhere you go!
ReplyDeleteLove these post--I think we are very much alike. Love of berries, the Bangles, burnt noses and hopes for one year. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteJane
What cute shots - especially that first one.
ReplyDeleteI love your song choice. Great song! Your berry choice is excellent as well. I love the smell of food cooking on a grill mixed with the pungent aroma of onions and peppers such as you find at Motorcycle Rallies, Baseball Parks, and Carnivals. Have a blessed week.
ReplyDeleteOh, Carla, your #3 resonated with me. I remember feeling that same way back in my Sunday School teaching days. Then, one of the mamas told me that her child soaked up the lesson and knew "all" the answers when asked. ; ) You are making a difference whether it looks like it or not! Eternal differences take time to be noticed!
ReplyDeleteHello sweet friend, I hope you are doing well! I love strawberries and Manic Monday!! While I did not grow up in the 80s, that is my most favorite music! Love and hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteI adore the lego sailor. I can tell he's going places.

Great song choice. Teaching Sunday School must certainly be a challenge. I wish you well with that.
ReplyDeleteLove the Lego river ride header! Have a fun canoe outing. I love what you shared for #7, say something nice.
