I love to use nature in my decorating. I will head to the woods to gather balsam branches, birch and pine cones. This season I also gathered wintergreen and princess pine.
I used balsam branches, wintergreen and princess pine to fill my skates.
Using dried hydrangea from my garden I created two of my galvanized bucket Christmas decorations.
I first applied some hair spray on the hydrangea. I used an extreme hold hairspray, I quickly dusted the hydrangea with gold glitter.
I then let the hydrangea dry for an hour before taking them outside to decorate.
Since the following photos have been taken, we have received some snow. The glitter is holding up very well, when the sun, moon or lights from the entry hit the hydrangeas, they twinkle.
A flower girl Christmas!
P.S. Any time I get the glitter out for crafting, my husband looks at me in surprise! "No, not glitter!" he will say. Glitter will be following us around for the next few weeks.
Everything is happier with glitter, and I love the glitter on the dried hydrangea! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteCarla, I loved all your posts...I went back thru the ones I missed. You are doing some really cute things for decorations. I love the old skates. I laughed about your hubby's reaction to the glitter. :):) Blessings for a beautiful holiday. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteHA, I know what you mean about your husband's dread of glitter. It does get everywhere and we carry it around. I even tried to buy Christmas cards with no glitter. That did not work. But it gives magic to things! Everything is so beautiful and exceptional! Of course my favorite is the skates arrangement! I wish I could think of unusual containers to use for arrangements, but I am hopeless at this. So what you do always seems like magic to me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful arrangement. I love glitter. I used to make wreaths and arrangements and would use Diamond Dust every chance I got!
ReplyDeleteYou are good at putting those arrangements together. They're beautiful. My husband is the same way about glitter.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so beautiful! I fill my skates with evergreens but i don't know the names! I love glitter!
ReplyDeleteLove love!!! So cool and pretty. I love your ice skates the the greens. Just so sweet. Great idea about hair spray and dried Hydrangeas with glitter. Very pretty and unique. Your porch looks so welcoming for the holidays. Perfect look for the Master Gardner/ Flower girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday.

I feel the same way about glitter!! Haha! It just never goes away. I love your ice skates! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful arrangements, Carla! You are so talented!
ReplyDeleteI love the ice skates in the arrangement. So pretty! I wish I had mine from when I was little, because my daughter wants a pair to hang. Cute... since we live where I can pick my lemons and citrus right now.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas. xoxo Su
I love your decorations, Carla! I am wishing I'd kept my old white skates from years ago. Love the idea you had for spraying the hydrangeas and I know what you mean about the glitter. The glitter from cards seems to linger long after Christmas is over! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI love glitter on projects too, but it sure is messy to clean up, ha! I love the idea of adding greenery to the hanging skates! So pretty and festive! It looks amazing Carla! Hugs to you today :)
ReplyDeleteI love natural elements and, yes, a bit of glitter as well. The vacuum cleaner is my friend.
