Honk! Honk! It is the Wednesday Medley! Beep! Beep!

My husband hates this sweet ornament. I rescued her from going in the trash several years ago when a coworker brought in a bunch of decorations she was tossing. I can not wait to get her out and put her on the tree for all to see. Hee Hee!

It is Wednesday!
It is time for the Wednesday Medley.
Terri asks the questions.
We answer the questions.

1.  On November 28th, 1995, President Bill Clinton ended the 55 MPH nationwide speed limit that began in 1974 as an energy saving measure during the Mid-East oil embargo.  If you are old enough to remember this (I sure am) did it make you happy?  Do you have a heavy foot when driving or does 55 MPH sound good to you?

Most of the major highways here in Wisconsin have bumped up the speed limit to 70 MPH! At first I thought they were crazy for doing so because we have lots of whitetail deer in Wisconsin.
Now, I do go 70 MPH or faster .. shh ..  on rural roads I will take it easy because of the photo below.
In my neck of the woods in Wisconsin, road crews do not pick up dead deer. The photo below was taken in Tennessee during last weeks road trip.

2.  You are home alone on a rainy/snowy Sunday afternoon.  What Christmas movie will you watch?

White Christmas

 3.  What is something you have tried that you will never try again?

You do not want to be Bean Boozled!
My boys played this on me!

4.  Today is National French Toast Day!!  Will you have some?  Do you like French Toast?

I love French Toast! My husband makes the best French Toast. I may ask him to make me some Saturday Morning.

5.  The Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center will be lighted today, as will the one at the White House in Washington, D.C.  Do you have your tree up and is it lighted?  Have you ever been in New York City or Washington, D.C. to see the trees all lit up during the holidays?

We plan to put our tree up Thursday evening. We will just put the lights on our tree. Our son who is in the military will be coming home for Christmas. He asked that we save the decorating of the tree to do with him.

I have not visited the trees in New York City or Washington D.C.
I did visit Chicago all decorated for Christmas. Wow, what a lovely sight.

6.  Tell us something random about this week of yours.

Last Sunday we helped our son move from Fort Jackson, South Carolina to Fort Gordon, Georgia for his start of classes.

Notice that green grass, we did because our grass is white this time of year in Wisconsin. Georgia was lovely. We did some exploring and I will share about that in a future post.

A little update on the greenhouse. I planted some greens, they are popping up. My greenhouse is not heated, the sun does the trick. I will share more about my greens growing in December.

  2. That's a sweet little ornament and how nice that you are waiting for your son to decorate the tree this year. We have green grass here...sometimes year round. I know you love the snow and enjoy getting out in it...but I guess I'll appreciate our green! Build a snowman for me! Hugs!

  3. Oh I remember that little ornament from last year. I'm sorry dear Carla but I'm with your husband on this one, hehe...
I think it's sweet of Sam wanting to be there with you to decorate the tree.

We have lots of snow that is melting today because of rain. No green grass here...
    Have a great week.
    Hugs, Julia

  4. I was wondering how your cute little greenhouse is doing. Yes, we love french toast. I make all different kinds, even gingerbread and mint. I have plenty of recipes for it. We have so many deer on the highways!! We have hit one once, they are just everywhere. We cannot go far before we see a dead one on the roadside, and that reminds us to slow down!

  5. Here in Texas, you have no choice but to go fast...you will get run over! In some areas of the state, 85 is the speed limit. I try to stay around 70 or 75 and let those that will zoom on by! In regard to Christmas movies...Christmas Vacation or Silent Night...we love both! Can't wait to see what's growing in the greenhouse! Love and hugs!

  10. Oh Carla living in Chicago you have to drive fast or get run over. Well unless it is traffic time then no one drives fast and you crawl!!!! I had to smile because you said yesterday was French Toast Day. I had a taste for it and made it yesterday lol! How funny and I did not even know it was national french toast day!!! Glad you had that fabulous meet up and graduation and time with Sam. He is going to make you so proud with all he does with his life now. You raised him well. Have a good rest of this week and fun weekend.
    Hugs,
    Kris

  12. I have never been very good with games except for scrabble! Nobody wants to play scrabble with me. How fun to have plants growing in the greenhouse long before spring arrives again

  15. Carla, I just went back and read your post on going to see your son graduate and move him to his next base school. What a joy that must have been, just to be with him but also to see him doing something so important for our country, him and the other young people there with him. Did you wave hi to me as you drove through TN?

I love watching White Christmas too! And I'm so glad Sam will be coming home for Christmas leave! I'm sure you will be cooking all his favorites.

  16. It seems every time we get a blanket of white, we lose it a few days later. I think maybe now it's here to stay. So glad you get to decorate your tree with Sam!

  17. That's so neat that something is already growing in the greenhouse. I did not plant my winter garden. We need to raise the beds, and get sprinklers that spray the one who is chewing them all up. We did not get one tomato for us this year. xoxo Su
