Happy Valentine's Day

 Happy Valentine's Day

 Happy Valentine's Day my friends.

My grandma shared with me her Autograph book many years ago.

I enjoyed reading the messages. The messages are from 1945.

My grandma had a green hardcover, My Autograph Book.

The inside cover has the following message..

As the years roll on in the march of time,

Each little thought and each little line

That is written now, in these years the best,

Shall be a part of my treasure chest.

So before you write, I think you ought

To give your prose or poem a thought.

Make it happy - make it gay!

In later years of you I'll say,

"Here are my friends-I know them well,

Who have written here-in my memory dwell."

I am going to share a few of the messages. Some are the perfect messages to share with your Valentine this weekend.

♥ Yours Till Table Legs Wear Socks ♥

They already were text messaging in 1945..

♥ Girls like tulips in the park    But boys like two lips in the dark ♥

Yours till the sink sinks.

The higher the mountain the cooler the breeze. The younger the couple the tighter they squeeze.

Happy Valentine's Day

  2. Haaahahaha yours till table legs wear socks ... that's a good once except, most folks wear socks on their feet, not on their legs. But whatever. All so cute. And what a treasure you have in your grandmother's autograph book. Happy weekend, Carla. Hope you and Jeremy have something wonderful planned. xoxo

  4. This is perfect! Hers sounds like the autograph book I had in grade school. With the same kind of remarks. How I wish I still had it; I don't know what ever became of it. Do you know what happened to your grandma's?

  6. Happy Valentines's Day, Carla. Life was so sweet and simple back then. Those little verses remind me of my Mother. She always loved the cute little Valentines with saying like those.

  7. Your Grandma's autograph book made me smile, as I had one when I was a young girl too. I don't have it any more, but I remember some of the funny messages that my family wrote. I like the message from your Grandma's book, "the higher the mountain," as I live in the mountains now. ; )

    Happy Valentine's Day, dear Carla.

  16. So neat that you have this from your grandmother. Makes great sense to be cautious what you journal, cause someone in later years just may be reading. Love the cute little lines written...

  17. I have been visiting blogs this cold morning and came across yours after I saw a comment you made (doggie pushed you into a ditch!) - I have a modest collection of old autograph books, and one of my own from long ago. I love the sentiments expressed in them. Thank you for sharing your grandmother's!

  22. I had an autograph book as a young teenager! Whatever happened to it? What a hoot it would be to read it again. I suppose it would be a laugh to my grandchildren today.
