Joy List Monday

 Joy List Monday

♥ a weekly ritual  ♥

a reminder to stop and pay attention to the little beauties

and graces that make life magical and to

set aside time for gratitude each day

♥ Cross country ski time with my sweetheart.

A fun little story to share.. two orange kitties have been meeting up with skiers at the trailhead of our local ski trails, Rockman's Woods. Last Tuesday, I got to see one of the kitties. They live at one of the homes along the trail. They enjoy getting social with the skiers, hikers and snowshoe peoples.

♥ Hershey's Kitchen Sea Salt Caramel Chips.. these are so good. I made the recipe on the back of the package. I ate three of these cookies just as they were cooling. I lost my self discipline. Ha! Let me know if you try them and how you use them.

♥Our son Atticus wanted to feed the birds at his apartment. My husband created the hanger the feeder is hanging. The feeder is hanging from the above apartment deck. Our boys have the first level apartment. Atticus was so excited to share with us that chickadee are visiting the feeder.

♥ Help from my cousin Kris.. she sent me the following article

Keeping Chickens Warm During Winter

We have enjoyed a mild winter so far, but as Kris from Junk Chic Cottage, shared, "Winter is in full bloom now!" We will be getting some very cold temperatures this week. The article was just what I needed to read, to get our hens ready.

♥ A text message from our oldest son Sam.. out of the blue.. I LOVE YOU, MOM!

It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.

  2. I can see that you are having a great time with your honey, enjoying winter. I was on a snowmobile once in my life many years ago. I raced on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa in my brother in law's Artic Cat snowmobile and won the race. It was so enjoyable.

The cookies sounds yummy but I can't have the Hersey's chips.I know they would be irresistible.

I hope your chicken will come through winter in good health.

Take care and stay joyful through the winter. Spring isn't that far away.
    Hugs, Julia

  4. Awww I love Sam's text! I heard from my son last night too, sending me a hymn he thought I'd like. I would think you'd already know how to keep hens warm in the winter, haaahaha, but at any rate I wish you warmth and coziness during your cold snap. It's mild here as always and we are enjoying it. It says a lot about your boys that they like to feed and watch the birds. I love that too. I'm going to try those salted caramel chips ... I didn't even know those existed. Happy Monday xoxo

  5. Lovely to see you!

Your husband is artistic! That's not just a utilitarian bird feeding hanging he made.

Our son next door, has chickens, and they have had some interesting happenings...

  7. That is a cute picture of you and your husband, Carla. I smiled when I saw my dear friend with a big smile on her face. Those Hershey's caramel baking chips look so Yummy. Haven't tried those yet. So glad the birds are visiting the feeder for Atticus to see, and how special that he welcomes them. I have a fondness for the birds, and I'm now starting to see them come around, it's been so cold.

    Happy Valentine's Day, Carla.

  8. Look at you cute kids , Carla. Glad you had fun. I do not have snow fun. LOL. No, shoveling to the mailbox isn't fun, but I am thankful I can do it. LOL So sweet your boys feed the birds. I would be afraid my chickens would become chicken popcicles. Stay warm and safe. Blessings, xoxo, love Susie

  10. We are so into winter here. It came in full bloom and with a blast of arctic air. Ugh! Hopefully as we move on through February we will see normal temps come in during March. An early Spring would be nice for all of us. Those chips from Hershey's sound so delish. I have been off of sugar since January 1st but I know those would make great cookies for sure. Glad Atticus is enjoying the birds with the feeder hung up. Have a great new week. xoxo
