It is time for the Hodgepodge

Hello Friends, the photo above was taken in 2016.

Let us all say "Hi, George, Tom, Teddy and Abe."

And now for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the question.

Click here to join the fun!

 1. Many of our earliest presidents created words or expressions widely used today. Teddy Roosevelt is credited with mollycoddle, pack rat, frazzle, and loose cannon...which of those words/phrases currently relates to your life in some way?

I will choose mollycoddle. My boys are traveling this week. I cannot help but get that mollycoddle feeling.. praying for them to have a safe trip and a great adventure.

2. Have you visited many (or any) of the US Presidents homes, monuments, libraries or related sites? If so what's been your favorite? Are there any you particularly want to see? Here's a link to presidential sites listed by state which is kind of fun to read-Presidential Places by State. And since several bloggers who participate in the HP each week live outside the US, here's a link to Presidential Places Outside the US. Have you seen any of those?

We visited Mount Rushmore in 2016. It was a great family trip.

My husband and I do plan to visit several of the sites in Illinois in 2025.

I have not visited a Presidential Library, it is something I hope to do.

My uncle and aunt do not live far from College Station, Texas. During our next visit to Texas to visit my uncle and aunt we could plan to go to the George Bush Library.

 3. February 20th is National Cherry Pie Day...will you celebrate? Given your choice of cherry pie, cherry cobbler, cheesecake with a cherry topping, or black forest cake which would you choose?

No I will not. I am not really a big fan of cherry. If I did pick something out it would be a cherry turnover.

 4. Last time you worked a puzzle of some kind? Something that had you puzzled recently?

My husband and I are currently working on a puzzle.

Oh many times technology has me puzzled. I will say "why is this doing this now, I have not changed anything or pressed anything and here it decides to go bonkers."

5. Of the early blooming flowers (January-early March depending on your zone) which one's your favorite?

snowdrops, lenten roses, pansies, violets, snapdragons, reticulated iris, crocus, winter jasmine

Do you have any of these in your own yard/garden?

From the list we have snowdrops, violets and crocus in our garden.

My favorite spring flower is the daffodil.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Next week we order our chicks. I cannot wait, it is always so much fun to go to our farm store and pick them up. "Peep, peep, peep." they say on the ride home.

  2. Yay for chicks! They are so cute. Where do you house them while they're small? We've been to the LBJ Presidential library in Austin, Tx and all the things in Washington DC. They made for great family trips. Cherry pie or tart or just fresh! Fav spring flower- hard to pick, but this year ranunculus.

  4. I am the same when I know my kids are traveling. I've been to two Presidential libraries and they're so interesting. Both were very well done, as I imagine all are. I've been to Chicago but haven't traveled in IL other than that. A couple of people mentioned The Little White House in Georgia and that would be do-able for us so maybe we'll make it happen. I read your post prior to this one and the book sounds good but also like it might make my stomach ache. I will need to be in the right frame of mind to read that one. Have a great day!

  5. I will keep you boys in my prayers. I forgot about Mt. Rushmore. I loved seeing it. Glad you are working on a puzzle. I need to do that, yet I feel guilty doing that when I'm not cleaning things out that need to be cleaned out. But it would give me better peace of mind. Your garden flowers sound lovely. Enjoy getting your chicks. Have a great rest of the week. Take care.

  6. Chick time is a big thing here in Colville. Hope your boys have a wonderful trip. We'll be in the Dallas area the beginning of March. I'll have to see if my sister and her hubby have been to the Bush library. Maybe they'll want to take us. Happy Wednesday to you!

  7. Well, now I want chickens!! Of course, we have no place to keep them and I have no idea how to tend to them, but they are adorable. So sweet!! Peep, peep!!

  8. I think both Jasmine & Honeysuckle smell so good. We had abundant honeysuckle all up and down our fence in the backyard, and Phil cut them all down! I guess they are considered weeds. I don't like cherries, either!

  9. I loved your first photo (well, all of them but especially that one since I mentioned wanting to see Mount Rushmore!!). What beautiful pictures with the clear blue sky in the background. I'll bet that trip was wonderful! I like daffodils, too. A great spring flower. Hopefully we'll see them soon!

  10. How fun for you to get more chicks. I remember the hens you had. Let us know what you name these. We have the Gerald Ford museum here and I have yet to visit it. Need to do that. Janice

  11. Technology is for sure and for certain puzzling to me! Most often, I don't even try to solve "the puzzle"! So glad I have an IT staff (my children, ha)! I would really like to visit Mount Rushmore!!

  12. Hope your boys are having a great time and get home safe. Looking forward to seeing pics of your chicks. My cousin has chickens but they get them fully grown as they are retired hens so they arrive looking very sorry for themselves with little in the way of feathers and often quite skinny. It's amazing how they regain their feathers and weight reasonably quickly and they usually continue to lay eggs.

  14. A lovely post.
Out earlier today enjoying some sunshine there were quite a few spring flowers in bloom ... lovely to see.

    Sending my good wishes.

  15. Such pretty flowers, come on spring! I have not visited a Presidential library and probably won't; but have visited President Warren G. Harding's Home in Marion, Ohio; as well as His Memorial there. The memorial is beautiful and the home is very interesting. I grew up within walking distance of both locations so spent a lot of time there as a child. I've enjoyed going back as an adult a couple of times which is a better learning perspective. I've seen Mount Rushmore and thought it was quite inspiring. I'm disheartened to learn someone is suggesting The FELON currently occupying the White House be added. What a horrific tragedy that would be. Sorry I missed National Cherry Pie Day, as that's my very favorite desert!! I think frazzle might be the word that best described my life...trying to stay current with the news, both here in the states and globally makes me frazzled.

  16. Hmm.. not sure if I have visited any presidential sites. I mean I have been to both DC and Philly and have visited the sights.. the Liberty Bell etc but don't know if that counts as presidential.

  17. We used to live in the town next to where the Ronald Reagan Library is located and where he and his wife are buried. We'd visit often.
My favorite flower is the daffodil.
