This and That

It snowed! Our first big snow fall since 2023... yep that is right. We did not receive enough snow to ski or snowshoe the winter of 2023/2024! The snowblower received a work out and so did my fella. I am happy we received snow, we need it for ground moisture come spring. And we will be able to go skiing!

I am starting a few plants using the simple method of snipping a plant and placing it in a jar of water.

Look at all the roots!!

"There ain't no rules around here" said Thomas Edison. "we are trying to accomplish something."

Friends became grandpa and grandma... I found this fun gift wrap for the gifts I wrapped up for them to welcome baby.

The ski trails are open. My friend K hit the cross country trails on Sunday night with her boys. We plan to go on Friday. A Valentine's Day Date!

  1. I'm glad you appreciate the snow. It doesn't just come to mess up our lives—there is a good reason we need the rain and the snow. Our rain and snowpack are important for groundwater as well. My city uses water from the dam and wells.
Well, you go on and enjoy your romantic ski date on Friday! Bring some candles...

  2. Great, you got lots of snow to ski. I also started some Coleus slips in water. I potted the ones that rooted and started some more from a plant slip my sister in law gave me last year.

I love the ease of growing plants from slip.
Have a great skiing Valentine date.
    Hugs, Julia

  3. I never did learn how to ski, but I use to skate both roller and ice when I was a kid. We are under a watch for more snow and ice coming in on Wednesday night. Probably coming from your way maybe. Janice

  5. Congrats on your snow! That's cool that you "use" it by enjoying it to ski. That wrapping paper is so cute and I love the photos of the new plant growth. The green in the mostly monochromatic setting really sets it apart. Have a great day!

  6. Burrr, hope you all bundled up with all that snow on the ground. Glad you enjoy it, I don't; but did when I was younger. The fear of falling at my age keeps me from wanting to out when it's snowy and icy. Enjoy.

  10. Looks like you got a good snow fall. We are going to get hit with a good snow storm tomorrow. The first big snow for us this winter. Have a wonderful week and Happy Valentines Day. Hugs. Kris

  11. You got a lot of snow, Carla! And just the right amount to go skiing. I like that picture of Jeremy with the snow blower. My neighbor has one, and it's really helpful, but it squirts out dirty snow sometimes, so that's the one thing I don't like. I noticed your green bottle on the window sill, so pretty. That is really cute wrapping paper you found to welcome the baby. Have fun skiing, Carla, and Happy Valentine's Day! : ) Our winters are not over for us yet, are they? Your snow picture is so pretty.

  12. That is adorable wrapping paper! I have a baby shower this weekend and need to look for something super cute like that!! Glad you got some snow...and that you were thankful for it. I usually moan over snow...but an attitude adjustment would not hurt me!!
