FRAMED
Astonishing True Stories of Wrongful Convictions
John Grisham
Jim McCloskey
This read will have your mind spinning. It is heartbreaking.
Tale Of The Tapes
This story is about Ellen Reasonover... she was FRAMED. She spent sixteen and a half years of false imprisonment.
Ellen did not give up.
Most of those who were FRAMED did not give up. What I found fascinating was that many forgave those who FRAMED them.
The Fire Does Not Lie
The worst story in the book is about Todd Willingham.
February 17th 2004 Todd Willingham was executed.
Wrongfully convicted and executed in Texas, this case is very disturbing.
The Absence of Motive
This is about Joe Bryan, this again is an awful story of how Joe was FRAMED.
Joe refused to lose his Christian faith while in prison.
He survived hell behind bars, he says he survived the hell because of the strength he found in his faith.
Joe has long since forgiven those responsible for his persecution. He will never FORGET the people, but he has FORGIVEN them.
I find that amazing!
Have you read FRAMED?
If so please let me know your thoughts?
I haven't read it (although I am currently reading a John Grisham book - The Judge's List) but it sounds awful. One of the reasons I'm glad we got rid of the death penalty. Mistakes happen.
ReplyDeleteSuch a horrible thing to be framed. This is why I dont believe in the death penalty. Some probably deserve it, but others are innocent. I figure God will judge you in the end. I have never been framed but Tundra our dog gets framed all of the time by Bob. If he only knew. Janice
ReplyDeleteI have not read this but I have listen to some podcasts about wrongful convictions. It is scary to know that our Justice system does not always get it right. Have a good week sweet friend. Hugs Kris
ReplyDeleteWow! I've not read the book . . . did you weep while reading? How horrible it must be to know that you are not guilty, yet everyone believes you are.
ReplyDeleteWow! this is so sad and where justice totally failed. I did not know someone was executed wrongly!!! But maybe there has even been more than one.
ReplyDeleteOh Carla, it breaks my heart when I hear of people having to go to prison and they were innocent. It is devastating. There will always be people out there trying to take away from us all the goodness we have. They are the enemy, and we have to know that God sees all the injustice, and makes all the wrong right again. Joe Bryan sounds like a remarkable man, never losing his faith.

Thank you for sharing. This is very interesting. I can't even begin to imagine all that they have been through.
ReplyDeleteI have not read this book. So sad. I did grow up in the same town as John Grisham though and knew his family. We went to the same high school!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read that book. It sounds like it might be a good one to recommend for my book club for next year. As others mention, it's such a sad situation, but admirable that he has forgiven...
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this book, but it looks like it might be next on my list. thanks for sharing ...Hoping you all are staying warm with all of this crazy Winter weather. Have a great week Carla...
ReplyDeleteI have not read Framed. I am actually not a big John Grisham fan (based on comments I've heard him make). I do believe that mistakes happen a lot in our judicial system. I worked in a prosecutor's office for almost a year before I went to law school. I saw a prosecutor toss a coin on whether or not to charge someone...
ReplyDeleteI haven't read it. It seems like a sad book, so many people wrongfully convicted. It's sad to think that our system could get it so wrong sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI have not read this book. It sounds very insightful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful review! It’s incredible to hear how stories of resilience and forgiveness shine through such heartbreaking circumstances. I haven’t read FRAMED yet, but it’s definitely on my list now! I’d love for you to check out my new post as well.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven't read it... and I probably will not be reading it.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
