Hello Friends,
It is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. As the saying goes, 'March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.' Did your March come in roaring or like some other animal? Every month carries with it certain feelings, which is why some people love and anticipate December and others dread it. How do you feel about the month of March?
If you ask my husband he will say our March came in like a lamb. We woke to 6 degrees, no wind and sun. I on the other hand decided it came in like a lion, because it was 6 degrees. My hopes is for 55 and sunshine March 31st.
March is the start of mud season here in Wisconsin. It is dirty. The dogs paws need cleaning and belly too. Our shoes get full of mud. We get full of mud. It is just a messy old time until the mud is gone.
It also can be winter and spring all in the same day, which can start to drive one a wee bit crazy when you have spring fever.
2. Where in your life are you a lion? Where are you a lamb?
I will roar like a lion to protect my family.
I am a lamb to creatures that have been abandoned.
The below photo is of Ernie, our rescue dog. He was a mess when we adopted him.
Slowly, with patience and love he started to feel safe.

Patience, love and daily training Ernie has become a gentleman.

3. The Hodgepodge lands on National Pound Cake day.
Do you like pound cake? Yes, I do like pound cake.
If so do you have a favorite flavor? I like vanilla and lemon pound cake. Let's play this or that-
- pound cake or layer cake? layer cake
- pound cake or cheesecake? pound cake
- pound cake or angel food cake? angle food cake
- pound cake or brownie? brownie
- pound cake or pie? pie
4. What makes you feel childlike wonder right now?
Starting seeds.. the joy of watching a little seed sprout and as the season goes on it grows and grows and grows.
5. What's one thing you need to add to your wardrobe to get ready for spring? If you're in the southern hemisphere, then answer for fall?
Some new sneakers, tennis shoes, trainers, walking shoes ... hee hee, not sure what you might call them, but you get the idea, new shoes.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I found some jelly beans made with natural juice.
Me oh My... they are good!
I am happy I purchased two bags.

We answered the same for question #4 :). That's so sweet that you rescued Ernie. What a cutie he is. And what a great dog mama you are. I will have to look for some jelly beans made with real juice- it's practically fruit at this point!!
ReplyDeleteI have already consumed too many jelly beans (my favorite!) and Easter is still a few weeks away. I should probably look for some flavored with juice. I love that you rescued a dog that needed rescuing and are giving him a happy life. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat brand are the jelly beans? I'd love to find some! Your doggy is so cute and I know he is a very thankful and happy dog! What a blessing to find a new forever home filled with love. Oh, I remember "Mud Season" when we lived up in New England and other northern places. Yes, it was a mess!! I don't envy you that one! Here in Florida we mostly deal with sand on our shoes year round, and also parts of acorns stuck in the soles of our shoes from our big oak trees. I'm constantly pulling out little bits of acorn caps from my shoes! LOL. I guess that's better than mud. I hope you have a very pleasant March, more like a lamb than a lion!
ReplyDeleteHello Carla. Ernie hit the jackpot with you and Jeremy. It is amazing when they are shown love and security how wonderful their lives become. One of my faves this time of year are jelly beans. Boy do they come in so many flavors. Yum. Have a good week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteMarch came in like a lamb here. Foggy right now though. I like pound cake with fresh strawberries. Janice
ReplyDeleteOhh! I don't like the sound of mud season but we seem to be getting winter and spring in one day too. I can't keep up.
ReplyDeleteAww! Ernie looks like such a sweetie.
I have just ordered some seeds to do my planting. I am very excited to hopefully see them grow.
Yum to those jelly beans!
Ernie is so cute!! I don't think I would like mud season. I'm assuming it is either from lots of rain or maybe from snow melt? Even here in Alabama, we can have winter and spring in the same day, so I understand!
ReplyDeleteHooray for the green grass. I agree with your point on how March came in. Yes, it is a messy time of year for you. Like your answer for #2. Ernie is so cute. We don't often have pound cake but I am a huge fan of cheesecake. Enjoy your seeds. Mark has our 3 garden boxes ready. He's going to start the pumpkins and watermelon soon because they take so long to grow. Hope you find some new shoes. That's awesome about those jelly beans. I have to look for them. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMorning Glory? I always love seeing cutie pie Ernie!
ReplyDeleteThat Ernie is adorable and I know he sure keeps you company. We pretty much had a lot of the same answers which can only mean we have a lot in common. I love the Morning Glories. My mom always had them growing at home. Brings back sweet memories for me.
ReplyDeleteI love Ernie, Carla! He is adorable! Your photos are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh, Ernie - you were just the perfect fit for him! Juice sweetened jelly beans? That sounds nice.
ReplyDeleteLemon pound cake - YUM! I would definitely say six degrees was coming like a lion!! What a sweet Ernie boy:) I know he brings you much joy!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on being a mama bear. Don't mess with my family.
ReplyDeleteErnie is adorable. What a job that he has come so far from when he was first adopted by you.
I hope you have much sunshine soon! Happy March!!
You've reminded me that I need shoes!
ReplyDeleteAww Ernie looks so cute ... lovely pictures of him.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Those jelly beans with natural juices look yummy, Carla. Could you let me know what brand they are? I'm so glad Ernie is starting to feel safe in your home. It takes a rescue dog some time for them to adjust, as they've been through awful things sometimes. Your purple flower is very pretty sprouting up. I used to see a big bush of those on my drives out in the country. I appreciate your answers to the hodgepodge, Carla, and I learn a few things about you every time. : )
ReplyDelete**I will roar like a lion to protect my family too, dear friend. ; )
DeleteIt really is fun to start seeds, watch 'em grow and enjoy them. Just love that too.
ReplyDeleteErnie! You are so darn adorable!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you about being a Momma Bear or a Lion when it comes to protecting my family!
New shoes, a new top and a new Spring purse for me!
Starting seeds is so fun! For me it is Zinnia seeds!
Enjoy those jelly beans. They look good.
Have a great weekend, dear Carla!
Beautiful blog
ReplyDeletePlease read my post
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that Ernie was rescued by you and your hubby! I see that the both of us prefer the other choices over pound cake , and yes those jelly beans sound delicious !
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend my friend!
Ernie is such a cutie and seems like a character! I am excited about spring and green grass..seeing little bulbs popping up. I love it!
ReplyDeleteErnie is just adorable...a gentleman! I love that description! I like pound cake...but I'm a sucker for cheesecake. Yum. Enjoy the mud, it's messy, but it's better than snow! Haha!! xo
