God has put into each of our lives a void that cannot be filled by the world. We may leave God or put Him on hold, but He is always there, patiently waiting for us...to turn back to Him.
And I love this quote from C.S. Lewis as well: 'All that we call human history—money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery—[is] the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.'
You're so right, that void will never be filled until we submit to God, run to the Rescuer, and beg for His mercy. He never turns anyone away!
