Home Sweet Home

On a road trip back in March, I saw this house.  I always wonder if I should take photos of peoples homes. I get so nervous. How about you? Can you take photos of strangers homes?

I just thought this house was so amazing. It was setting up on a hill over looking a small town.
I always wonder who had this home built? Was it a founder of the town?  If the walls could only speak! I would love to peek inside and see all the character and charm.

It is hard to see in my photo but the home has a rock siding and rock porch.
The  decorative gable ends. The roof. It is just full of old time charm.

  3. I always wonder about the history of majestic houses. Or other houses you can tell just have so much history.
The only time I don't feel strange taking pics of strangers houses is when they are decorated for Christmas! Otherwise I do feel funny about it.

  4. Oh Carla, I smiled when I read this because, like you, I find it so strange taking pictures of people's homes, so that's why I don't. I always think they are sitting inside looking out saying, "who on earth is that taking a picture of our house." haha. This house is so charming, the design, the character, all of it.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. It meant so much to me you stopping by and saying hello. :~)

  8. This house is really wonderful! Dare I say they don't make them like this anymore? YES, I take pictures of houses all the time!! Well, it's not like I walk in front and spend any time on it. It is just a quick drive-by. and houses this unique, I always wonder who lived there and lives there now, their history. What a wonderful find!

  9. I just filled up the memory card on my digital camera. Over the years I am taking less pictures. I'm realizing I just don't need so many pictures. But I'm not a photographer! It's just my personal observation of myself.

  10. I love the looks of that house! I always wonder about the stories of all the people who have lived in various houses. What were they like? Who were they? Did all the owners have things in common? They did choose to live in the same house, though at different times. Generations. Was it one family. Passed down through the generations? Some houses just make you think about these things. Almost like the house reaches out and makes you wonder. I think some houses just draw certain people to them. I have taken some pictures of houses. But I do feel nervous about it. If I were seen would the people be nervous about my reasons for taking pictures of their home. But some houses just beg to be photographed.

  12. It's a charming house and I would like to see the interior. I would be uneasy too like you but I'm sure someone else must have had the same desire as you to photograph the house especially if it's and older home.
    Have a great day.

  13. What a fantastic house, Carla. Is it in Ashland? Just a guess. I think there are several homes like that around our state, built by lumber barons. It would indeed be interesting to know its history! Thanks for showing us.

  15. Very cool house! I feel the same way, would love to snap a pic, but I don't. Funny, my kids feel no restraint at all. I guess it's a generational thing!

  17. What an amazing house. They sure don't make them like that anymore. I just love the character of older homes. I have always wanted to do a post of the older homes in our town but afraid to do so. Janice

  22. I always take photos of other people's homes. The bad thing is that I get out and wander around in there yards looking for the best shot and different angles. The hubster tells me all the time that I am going to get shot! LOL To me, it is so interesting to see how people live and what their homes look like during the seasons.
