Autumn Harvest

As September rolled in I changed my Fresh Cut Flowers and Produce sign to ~ Autumn Harvest.

 For Sale

 Indian Corn
Bumpkins
Strawflowers
Corn Stalks - bundles of 12 corn stalks with a bow
Zinnias

Now I am closed for the season and thinking for next year.
We always like to try a new vegetable or flower.
For the 2016 garden season I know I want to try Kohlrabi. A fellow gardener at the Community Gardens gave us one to sample. I really liked it. We might try growing Popcorn. My son Atticus is tossing that idea around.

We have all winter to think about the 2016 garden season.
For now the Garden Stand is  ~ Closed for the Season.
It was a fun year!

If you are new to The River, check out a few of my fun garden stories from this season.

"Tis merry, merry in the Spring,
And merry in the Summer time,
And merry when the great winds sing through Autumn's woodlands brown ~
And in the Winter, wild, and cold, Tis merry, merry too.

  1. Hi Carla! Okay, just went back and read your garden posts...amazing! Great idea with the mailbox and the stand is so cute! We had a plot in our community garden for the first time and it was so much fun. Can't wait to do it again next spring. Enjoy your Monday (I'm off to buy MORE Halloween candy, lol.)

  3. Your stand is so charming, Carla. I love it. I've been thinking of doing something like this next year. We live in the commercial/residential part of town, so maybe I would get some traffic.

  5. I love all the intense color and beauty of your garden produce, Carla! Tell Atticus YES! on the popcorn for next year. I will happily offer to be a taste tester when it's popped. :-) Beautiful mosaic.

  9. What a sweet little stand...and now it is closed for the season. We grew popcorn once when I was a kid. It had very poor "popping" quality for some reason. xoDiana

  10. I love your harvest stand, Carla! I think it's so neat to be able to grow your own veggies and flowers and sell them. It's sounds like a lot of fun :)

  12. Autumn Harvest - very fitting, your stand looks good to me.

Isn't it good to be planning or at least thinking about next season too ... but then the winter months can be good to do that.

Hope your week is going well.

    All the best Jan

  16. That corn looks so pretty! Our neighbors have it hung on corn stalks on the posts by their front door and my husband and I laugh every night we walk by because the squirrels rip it all down and the neighbors put it all back up and it repeats...the squirrels love it!
I love your little stand, I would so stop there! :)
    Have a wonderful week!

  17. Carla, I was noticing the corn and thought, "hey, this looks like Indian corn," and then I saw that it really was. I haven't see it in awhile. Brings back memories of when I was a kid. Your Autumn harvest is wonderful. Love that bumpy pumpkin pic.

  18. I LOVE the idea of raising popcorn. Why have I never thought of that? Hope Atticus won't mind if we copy his idea ;)

  19. So lovely!! I've been thinking about next year's garden, too. Just bought my garlic and plan to plant that sometime in the next few days. We took a trip to Seed Savers Exchange to get the garlic and seeds from this year were 50% off and I couldn't resist. I'm going to try growing tomatillos and breadseed poppies. Also, found a tomato variety I've never tried called Nyagous. Always fun to try new plants!

    Have fun garden planning!
