Valentine Paper Craft |
It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. Can you believe it's the end of January? What was the best day of January 2017 for you, and why?
No, I can not believe we have a month already in the books for 2017!
My best day of January 2017 was the 1st, we celebrated Christmas with our family.
2. What sounds make up the background noise in your life?
Teenage boy sounds.
3. I read on the Power of Positivity website a list of ten things to drop from your life right now. They are-
anger outbursts, people who put you down, regret, negative self talk, being a people pleaser, the notion you need to be perfect, the past (but keep the lessons learned!), gossip and judgment, comparing yourself to others, and the word hate (focus on what you love instead)
Which thing on the list do you most need to drop? Are you trying or will you try?

Which thing on the list do you most need to drop? Are you trying or will you try?
I will be honest, I struggle with the notion I need to be perfect. I have been doing better about not beating myself up when I make a mistake. I continue to work on it.
4. What is sacred to you?
My family.
5. January is National Oatmeal month. Are you a fan, and if so how do you like it?
With worms of course!
I did this to the boys for April Fools.
Yes, our family of four enjoys oatmeal. I like to add maple syrup, raisins and walnuts.
6. What feelings does twilight stir up in you?
Go chase and catch lighting bugs.
7. Something you're looking forward to next month?
GET READY for another frozen trek across Lake Superior from Ashland to Washburn at the 21st annual Book Across the Bay, to be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017!
We will ski across Lake Superior at night, by the light of candles leading the way. We start in Ashland and ski to Washburn. It is beautiful.
One year someone made a huge snow sculpture of a dragon. They released Chinese lanterns from the dragons mouth. It is always an adventure and we are excited to see what 2017 brings.

A few more fun paper Valentine crafts to make with your sweet Valentine.
Oh wow, that Book across the Bay is an awesome event. It must be so much fun for the family.
ReplyDeleteI like my oatmeal just like you. In fact I add a spoonful of sunflower seeds to it and half a banana. I love it.
January was a blur. Soon it will be spring. In mid February, I'm looking forward to meet my newest great grand child. Her name will be Willow.
Take care and enjoy February.
Hugs,
Julia
I love these posts, Carla. I am going to save these "heart critters" for SweetCheeks to see. She would love to make them, I know.
ReplyDeleteLove the Book Across the Bay!
My dd is dating a man (long term now) that was raised in Ashland. His daddy was a preacher there and died on his way to a service on Easter morning. Pretty sad---
Just getting ready to make myself some oatmeal. LATE breakfast or early lunch--not sure which...lol xo Diana
CUTE paper Valentines! I will be saving your ideas for my own use!
ReplyDeleteThe "Book Across the Bay" trek sounds wonderful. I have not heard about that before.
Hailing you from Colorado via the Hodgepodge this morning.
I knew you'd put your family :) ME TOO! I'm stealing those worms on April Foods this year, too funny! OH and I LOVE those Valentines! xo
ReplyDeleteLove those worms and since we will be having the grandkids on April 1, I can't wait to use it on them!! What fun!! And I cannot imagine skiing across the Bay at night. I will look for future pics. I also like the valentine crafts. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post, dear Carla. I, too, can't believe Febraury has arrived as it seems like we just started January! {{sigh}} the time goes by way too fast!
ReplyDeleteThe paper Valentine's are just too cute! I may have to make some with my son :)
Hugs to you!
Cute Valentines, Carla! And that night ski across Lake Superior sounds wonderful!!! Certainly something to look forward to!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting answers and such cute Valentines! Very unique! The Hodgepodge is such a great way to get to know other bloggers.
ReplyDeleteBoy noise! Glad you didn't expound too much : ) That ski across the lake sounds fabulous! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love these crafts and have saved them all to make with our grandkids!! You ski all the way across the lake? Isn't Lake Superior HUGE? It does sound dreamy and beautiful. I think women have a problem with trying to be perfect. Humans cannot be perfect, and the only person who was was Jesus. We need to make friends with ourselves.
ReplyDeleteThis was fun to read. Good answers. The valentines are so cute.
ReplyDeleteThe night ski trip would be beautiful. Can't wait to hear about it. I love your cute Valentine paper crafts.
ReplyDeleteJanuary flew by too quickly. I like my oatmeal made with unsweetened vanilla almond milk and a little bit of 100% pure organic maple syrup. Your ski adventure sounds wonderful. Wishing you all the best. Love the Valentine's!
ReplyDeleteBook Across the Bay sounds like loads of fun! Not that I could make it but still...LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the Valentine's but you can keep the worms! lol. Enjoyed your post.
ReplyDeleteThe Valentines are so cute! It's been a long time since I made pretty handmade cards. And I love oatmeal. I dice up apples in it before I cook it and then put cinnamon on top...and whatever fruit I have. Tomorrow is Farmer's mkt! YAY! Wish you were going with me. We would get in all KINDS of trouble! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBook Across the Bay sounds like so much fun! I hope you will share all about this adventure :)
ReplyDeleteYou are really athletic and drink! I've never skied before. I'm sure I'd end up with a broken leg.
ReplyDeleteLove your valentines!

Enjoyed seeing a peek into your heart and life again today Carla! The little Valentine cards are so cute! And that night ski sounds so amazing! I would love that. So fun to do with with other people. It is hard to believe we are already in February! Hugs to you today :)
ReplyDeleteIt was ridiculous how quickly January sped by and now we are already on the third day of February ... time certainly flies by.
ReplyDeleteJust love all of your Valentines here, and the Book Across The Bay sounds exciting.
Here's to a great February!
All the best Jan
National oatmeal month?? Who knew? I'm a huge fan...plain, with sugar (shh), with fruit or, my favorite, with yogurt mixed in! Warm and cold together. Yum!!
ReplyDeleteNight time skiing, sounds fun, and scary. Oatmeal - I guess is the same as what I call porridge in New Zealand, hot with brown sugar, raspberries and yoghurt.
