Pressing Flowers

 Pressing Flowers

I almost forgot.. but my cousin Kris continued to remind me. And my friend Angie stopped with her dear friend Sharon to tour my garden, and Sharon also mentioned pressing flowers.

After Angie and Sharon left, I said to myself "you have to press flowers this season."

I went out and picked a bouquet of flowers to press.

Now I need your help. What ideas do you have for what I should do with my pressed flowers after they have dried?

  1. I thought of gluing them onto notecards but they would probably fall apart. Now I'm wondering what you'll come up with! I guess they could be sandwiched between pieces of glass and then framed...that would be pretty! Enjoy!

  2. Well, this drawing is lovely. I think you should incorporate them into it, and maybe other images as well. Then make a collage, put them in a shadowbox, and hang or display it.

  5. There are so many things you can do. Look on pinterest or here is a site that has 40 things you can do with dried flowers. I like the coaster idea. https://www.coolcrafts.com/pressed-flower-art/

  6. Oh my, I have no idea. But what a lovely idea... To press flowers. And I take it, that is a "flower press"....

Wondering how long they are left?

Well, please show them to us, when they are *done*.

Also wondering what ladies of a bygone era, used to do with them....? ~smile~

Plus, I am just full~of~wonderings! :-) Why do you use a Black Heart, at the end of your post? Does it have a special meaning? Have you ever considered, if it does, look like it has a special meaning?

  7. I did this thing once when you took the flower and I think you put wax paper down and pounded it and it smudged onto the ecru paper. I'll have to look it up

  9. When I was a girl you couldn't open any of my books without some pressed flowers falling out. I never did anything with them. Maybe a greeting cards? Place cards for a fancy dinner? A garland? I would love to try a garland, now that I think of it.

  10. One of my friends gave up our wedding invitation framed with pressed flowers in inside. It still looks great under glass all these years later. So you can press and frame them. Also, I love Linda's ideas...check this bunny out. https://www.lifeandlinda.com/2020/04/dried-flower-art.html

  14. Hi Carla. So sorry that I missed commenting on this post. I had somehow forgot to push the publish button it seems.

I used to press flowers in old books. Pansies were easy to press. I never did managed putting them in a frame. I guess I was just so busy raising 4 kids.

Thanks for you positive comment on my post about Billy Graham and Mother Theresa. She was an extraordinary person.

Take care and stay safe and well.
    Hugs, Julia
